Has anyone asked OMHA personnel (HR? Assistants scheduling interviews? Budgeting people?)? Anyone who had a first interview ask whomever arranged the first interview? Searching this site, I can't find anyone who says they talked to X or policy Y says no. We know that ALJs once ALJs don't get relocation because they are not evaluated. Do we actually know that some agencies don't have relocation for (non-ALJ) federal employees when ODAR does?
Since OMHA was "spun" out of ODAR, why would they have different policies?
Just curious if there is any hard data on which these suppositions are based.
I have heard that second interviews have or are occurring, has anyone else heard this?
Are there any OMHA ALJs on the board who can give an indication of what life is like in OMHA?

Current federal employees who were hired by OMHA as ALJs were not offered relocation.

To my knowledge, some indicated that their references were contacted after the initial telephonic interview, but no second or VTC interview and certainly no indication of any offers made or accepted. To the best of my knowledge, no offers or acceptances have occurred. OMHA has had a second round of interviews and is engaged in background checks of an unknown number of candidates. Nothing will happen before April 21, based on no actual information, but circumstantial evidence.

Thanks for the input, even if it is circumstantial. My criminal law is rusty, but I believe that circumstantial evidence can result in a conviction if it is strong enough.

This is correct with respect to second round and background checks, financial disclosure, etc. Have no idea on the April 21 date, but it appears through circumstantial evidence that OMHA is looking at a June report date.

Has any one in 2016 got an offer from OMHA Arlington?

No official offers have been made to anyone as of today's date. This statement is based upon information from someone in the know at OMHA. I trust the source and the candidate for the position.

Just curious if anyone has received an offer from OMHA? There have been references in this thread to offers possibly happening on or after April 21st.

OMHA will not make offers until full background checks by OSSI are completed for the Federal ALJ position. No offers will be given until the full clearance is completed. Its offers may indeed come after SSA's offers and it could lose some candidates once again.

OMHA will not make offers until full background checks by OSSI are completed for the Federal ALJ position. No offers will be given until the full clearance is completed. Its offers may indeed come after SSA's offers and it could lose some candidates once again. If you received a letter indicating that the position was filled, you are not alone. I have received several PMs from people who got these. The letters reasonably seem to indicate that the recipients will not receive offers in this round of hiring, although everyone should remember that OMHA intends to hire a lot (relatively speaking) of ALJs. Despite the contents of the letter, which indicate that offers have been made and accepted, I am not aware of any such offers. I will check the polls later to see if there are any reports. As MPD said, OMHA could lose people to SSA if it continues to be very slow in this regard, and it would appear it is willing to foreclose the option of backfilling declinations by sending these letters before actually offering.

Perhaps these letters are a precursor to another letter covering more OMHA cities since some have expanded their GAL's when given an opportunity to do so.

This is what I know about the process based upon discussions with those going through it.

OMHA on Thursday (4/28) solicited sitting ALJs for an Associate Chief ALJ position in the new Seattle, WA office. FYI.

Received my letter on Saturday. It said, in pertinent part:
"Thank you for applying for an Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) position with the Office of Medicare Hearings and Appeals (OMHA).
We received applications from several excellent candidates, making the selections especially difficult. I regret to inform you that we have made selections for this position and the offers have been accepted.
Thank you again for expressing an interest in the ALJ position and we hope you keep us in mind for the future."

I have good information that the letter was sent to individuals not selected this time around, and thus that the basic message of the letter is accurate, but that the specific contents of the letter are not accurate - offers have not gone out for OMHA positions. I think that this means that if you did not get a letter or an offer, you are still in play. For any who received the letter, remember that OMHA needs to hire MANY ALJs in the near future.
