Advice for know. I do not know how young or old you are having 7 years as of summer 2016. If I were you and I would apply for the job as soon as I met the 7 years. I would treat it as a dry run. Gain knowledge of the process. And given the time it takes to get an offer if at all no telling where you might be in your career and what you might want when you get an offer. However if you are relatively young such that you expect to work some 20 plus more years I personally would really be working to get more varied attorney experience first. 20 plus years seems a long time to be an ALJ - what's next after ALJ. That is with the perspective of ALJ being an end of career gig. But who knows look at some of SSA commissioners bios I think one was a relatively young ALJ.

I am with funky there is no way I want to die at my desk at any age. Know folks now who started fed or military service young and are bouncing around smiling and retiring. I am so jealous.
And feel assured young ones with barely 7 years experience. If I got an offer this year I would hopefully retire in 10 years and you would be in the position I am now with about 17 years experience and I would be ready to pass the torch. How magnanimous of me:)

Does anyone know what the turn-around was last go round between the posting of this announcement and the actual posting on USAjobs?

I am trying to recall information about the GAL list in the announcement. Does it list every possible city where an ALJ could be employed, and do we select all cities that we would consider as part of that initial application phase?

while we endure the painful wait for an NOR, it is worth gaining some insight into the job itself (with a dose of humor and good writing applied): disabilitydunktank.com/

I think MSP just identified himself from RI, where "youse guys" is a known Rhode Island phrase. So if we go back to etiquette posts - you may need to apply attention here.

Thx catspaw, but I remain safely anonymous...was going for a "My Cousin Vinny" vibe
