Make sure you travel into DC Reagan National. Flying into and out of BWI for a destination in northern VA can be a big hassle with traffic. One of the few times I missed a flight was going from Alexandria va to BWI. Gave myself plenty of time traffic was just horrendous.

I still don't have my authorization number. Should I be concerned? If it has been more than a few days, I would follow up.

Reagan National is a short cab ride to Falls Church and is the only way to go. Pixie.

Pretty soon, Metro will be open to Dulles. When that happens, it will make travel options better. It will be a long trip from Dulles to Alexandria, but no auto traffic.

i got into a huge argument with my WestChester County buddy once that howston is fine, I guess, for new York city, but d.... it, is should be Uston for Houston, Texas, i explained that ##%%&& it, surely Sam Uston knew how he pronounced his last name and Uston, Texas was NAMED after Sam after all. my i thought great arguments fell on deaf ears!!! BTW, i believe my bud still works pretty near the old Varick street fed building. forgotten-ny.com/2005/07/houston-street-river-to-river/Sorry, but your argument apparently has been debunked... forgotten-ny.com/2005/07/houston-street-river-to-river/Also, unless you're in Pennsylvania, Westchester has no extraneous capital letters.

My argument was call howston street whatever he wanted. But he should refer to Houston tx as uston. He disagreed. So how do you spell that county that lies north of the Bronx then?

When traveling to National, try to avoid taking a flight that will get there at 11 pm or later. If there is a delay in your flight, there may be no metro and only a few cabs. I believe that Uber is not allowed to operate from the airport. This has happened to me once or twice. I ended up sharing a cab with a stranger (something I normally would never do) because we both waited for more than 20 minutes in the taxi line. There was no one to help us because our flight was more than two hours late landing. I would have had an easier time landing at Dulles which was my home airport for many, many years.

I took an Uber from the airport during my fall testing. Very efficient and much less expensive. Even stopped at Whole Foods for me.

It's just Westchester, no capital C. And don't call it (or Rockland) upstate unless you want to make the locals angry.

I received the travel email yesterday. Made the arrangements today. I did not have the nerve to ask if they would cover the 85 miles of travel from here to the airport.

It's just Westchester, no capital C. And don't call it (or Rockland) upstate unless you want to make the locals angry. The locals need to get over it. Everything in the region is in relation to Manhattan- you go "out" to the Island, you go "down" to the shore (Jersey). Even within the boroughs, it is referred as going "out" to Queens, or "into" Manhattan; even the song tells you that New York, New York is a hell of a town, the Bronx is "up" (and the Battery is downtown, so I guess the absolute center would be, conveniently named, Midtown.

my same friend told me once everything west of the Hudson should be put under cement. He successfully got the desired rise out of me When i learned his granny was actually from Minnesota(and his mom might have been born in Minn. i can;t remember now), i mentioned his cement comment would result in him never being born!!! i think that shut him up for 30 seconds! Then he somehow NYish argued his way of that inconvenience!

This is what I'm doing and my travel intererary has already been approved. - Fly in the night before (covered by ssa) - cab from dca to hotel (not covered by ssa) - overnight at Hampton (not covered by ssa) (also Starwood by Hilton is good, they share the same parking lot, both close to ssa, both higly rated... my experience was that AAA was cheaper than government rate $217 vs. $226) - cab from hotel to ssa (covered by ssa) - cab from ssa to airport after interview (covered by ssa) - fly out (covered by ssa) - also will have per diem of just over $50 to cover food. Hope this info is helpful to others planning. Does anyone know if I can extend extra days as long as it's not more expensive? I have friends/family in the area. A quick search showed its actually cheaper to fly home 3 days later.

I was supposed to travel to DC for the interview and fly back home on the same day. However, based on past experience, I did not want to fly in the same day as my interview. I asked if I could fly in the day before and leave the day after and they said it was fine as long as it didn't cost any more to do so. So I did.
