I have heard from a very reliable source that as of this afternoon SSA plans to begin making offers at the end of May and hopes to start before Memorial Day.

I never liked Seinfeld. I loved Jurassic Park! Wayne played Nedry perfectly. I would give Dennis Nedry a good reference for programming. Anyway, it's time to start chewing those fingernails as calling time approaches.

Nedry, what a character! Don't you just love these character actors? They are better remembered in my household than all the "big" Hollywood stars.
well, ... Cary Grant is fondly remembered, but you get my drift.

One of my references was told by the reference checker on Wednesday that the reference checker's deadline had been extended to Friday, i.e., today. Curious - are they recontacting references that were provided before? Or just contacting newly provided references?
All my references were called after I made my first cert in Nov. 2014; when I had to resubmit the form in Dec. 2015, all my references were the same and none was called again.

All of my references were contacted in Dec 2014. At least 6 of the 10 (including my former employer) were recontacted in the last 1 1/2 weeks or so.

My references were first contacted in July 2015 and to my knowledge none of them have been contacted this round.

Can I ask something reference related? Does OPM contact references early on in the process, or just SSA once you get on the cert?
Thanks!

It has to be a classic sign of obsession that your best references send you emails, joking of course, starting with "Someone called today on behalf of the Social Security Administration and I told them I didn't recognize your name and didn't have any idea how they received my number."

You may not realize how true that is. I personally know an alj and have heard anecdotal evidence of another that this week received reference calls on people they had no idea who were. Here's a hint, if you appeared as a rep one time in front of an alj se time ago, probably not the best reference.

I worked closely with him for four years and he ended the email with some very nice compliments.
But ewww, on your anecdotes . . .
