As of 430 today, all overtime for writing was ceased. Senior attorneys are to cease writing but will review 1000 day old cases... things are changing with backlog decreasing and new Commissioner appointment

I have not seen any official pronouncement (email) to this effect. But hey, no writing? Sign me up!

Email from CALJ went out to HO and RO mgmt this afternoon ending all decision writing OT for all OHO components and directing SAAs to stop writing decisions — they can continue cases already started but others should be reassigned. A standard template was included for reviews to be done by SAAs for 1000-day-old cases followed by a hierarchy of other cases.

Meet the new backlog. Same as the old backlog.

For SAAs, I believe it was 1000 day old cases, then Aged cases, and then non-disability cases..

The lack of writing anyway, not the cessation of OT. I'm assuming this will be a nationwide project since I'm not sure our SAA will have anything to do without many, if any, cases over 1000 days. What a curious turn of events.

AA here. We got no warning that OT was stopping. Lovely. My office hasn’t had writing OT in two months because of the lack of backlog. It seems pretty fortunate you’ve had it this long.

The directive was yesterday at 430 pm. Now, seniors are told not to write but review. Workload pending is drying up to an unprecedented low number..

This is not a good sign at all.. I would be very concerned for new hires employed as not to exceed..

Also new AAs hired as recently as last month. GS 11, I think.

Strange, what I heard in this Region was that there would be quotas placed on Senior Attorneys....

Strange, what I heard in this Region was that there would be quotas placed on Senior Attorneys.... Kinda both. Yes on quotas but it sounds like “auxiliary” time will count towards productivity. Dwr work is one of the aux categories
