I faxed my package to SSA on 3/23/09, but haven't gotten an interview appointment call yet. Other threads sugest that I'm not alone. Does anyone think I should be concerned?

No, logger, relax. Many people have not yet received their calls. If you read other threads on this board, it appears there are only 2 people in Falls Church making all these calls, and one candidate who inquired was told the calls may continue through this weekend. However, they have been known to lose people's documents, too. So, I suggest that you wait and if you have not heard from them by this weekend, then call one of the phone numbers posted on the Interview Scheduled thread.

When I talked to the woman who called me about my travel package, she mentioned that I was part of the first group. I took that to mean that they divided up the list, and were processing people at different times..rather than all at once.

Logger, TY for asking this question! I'm in the same boat. I tried to rationalize by distinguishing this from what has previously been an examination/qualifying process (when we all heard at about the same time) to what is now a (hopefully) hiring process--big difference. Puravida's comments are very helpful, at least at this juncture.

Will folks please answer Legal Beagle's polls about interview dates? Whether you've gotten an interview date or not? That way, those of us in this situation will know where we stand. From the looks of it, no-one has gotten a call recently, which seems odd. Again, there's no reason to worry about whether we'll eventually get scheduled. The only worry is how we're going to arrange for time off work, coverage for our dockets, and flights, with shorter and shorter advance notice. I'd sent my fax very shortly after I got the email precisely to avoid being in this position.

I just got my call -- the woman told me the first week was totally booked up; when I gave her my sob story about why I wanted to come the first week, and that my notification listed that first week, she went to check with her supervisor (well that's what she said, anyway), and came back and still said it was booked up.
I can see no rhyme or reason to why I got the call at this time. My last name begins with B, and I sent in my papers the next to last day.
She also said that I would not get paid for a hotel, since they were trying to "get people in and out," and when I asked about people coming from the West Coast, she said, well they might get a hotel paid for. I am coming from NYC, so I have to "get in and get out" I guess.
I took the next to the last appointment on the last day 4/24. Please bring the interviewers coffee and chocolates if you are right before me.....

congrats alj2009. I'm still waiting. But hearing from you gives me hope.
I sent my stuff in the same day I received it and was told my interview would be the first week. I don't care. As long as I get a call. It will be hard if it is mid-week, however, as I will have to take three days off work instead of one. oh well.
Just call.

Good for you, alj2009. The calls to schedule interviews seem to have definitely slowed down. I wonder why?

well, here is my latest thought. Some of the earlier threads indicated that one of the interviewers indicated that he was from the office the ALJ was being hired for. So I'm holding out hope that I have not been contacted because the person from the offices I'm interested in have not been scheduled. Hey, at this point, I'll hold on to anything. I am limited to California in my geographical choices.

Relax. Do something fun.

Got my call from ODAR at 3:20 PM Pacific time. Thanks to all for your helpful comments. Incidentally, I was allowed to chose date and time for the week of Apr. 20-24 - almost all times were still available

Incidentally, I was allowed to chose date and time for the week of Apr. 20-24 - almost all times were still available I heard because the Purto Rico cert requires bilingual interviewers, interview slots are much more limited than the normal cert for everywhere else. Just something to keep in mind when you're wondering about interview slot availability.

Thanks very much, Logger. Good info. It's nice they're working into the evening East Coast time. It would be nice to get a call this afternoon, as I'll be driving 2.5 hours to a hearing tomorrow.

For those of you in a panic because you have not yet received the call to schedule the interview, they are still making calls -- I just received mine (10:45 AM Eastern). The person making the call seemed a bit frazzled so I didn't ask her a ton of questions.

I got my call this morning. Scheduled the 20th in the morning. I'd wanted a Monday so I can fly in on the weekend and only miss one day of work. I'm coming from the West Coast, so they're paying for my hotel. (Will reimburse me). The staff person was very nice and helpful.

I'm also scheduled for 4/20 Monday AM. I decided against dealing with the travel folks, and am just driving up and staying with a friend in Falls Church. I also stayed w/her for the WD and the SI, and probably owe her another bottle of Crown. And she just so happens to be having a cookout Sunday (yay!) so if anybody is staying over Sunday and wants something to do (free food, beer, and inevitable complaining about the 'Skins and/or Dan Snyder), PM me. This will increase the odds that someone is more hungover than I will be on Monday.
