Mongo: That's a great name! Welcome to the Club. There was a movie many years ago named, "Mongo's Back." Is that where you got the idea for the name? Pix.

Actually it's an homage to Alex Karras' character in "Blazing Saddles"...
"Mongo only pawn...in game of life."
Before I forget, let me take this opportunity to say "Thank You" Pixie for all of your valuable insight about the process as well as the words of encouragement you have offered on this board. I hope you know how much you are appreciated.

Say Mongo,
Now all we need are some register colleagues named Hedley Lamarr, Governor Le Petomane, Taggart, Lili Von Shtupp and ...
Jim: "Well, my name is Jim, but most people call me... Jim."

Good Morning to all. Santa Claus, aka OCALJ's Office staff, was sighted today (Saturday!) at 11 am CST in the SE United States scheduling interviews. Ho Ho Ho! I hope each of your phones ring soon!

I got a call today (Saturday) to schedule the interview. Virgil from OCALJ said that he would be working all day today calling people. I'm guessing that someone authorized overtime to try to move the process a little faster for all of us anxious folks. (exhaling now)

Not to worry Mouse, I told everyone the call would come. ODAR personnel is relatively small considering the number of candidates who had to be contacted. This is a massive undertaking for them, and additional troops had to be called into Saturday service. Starting to get interesting now. Pix.

I got my call today (Saturday) as well! Last thing I expected. I loved the part of the call where the caller said "if you're still interested in the position. . . " Uh, yeah . . .

They are working tomorrow, too, as I had a message this afternoon to call them back Sunday!

Good luck to everyone. Does anyone know just who is going to be on the interview panel?

I too was called today -- and was amazed they were working on Saturday and, apparently, tomorrow as well. What's the deal with working on the weekend to get all this done? Very unlike the U.S Government.
Needless to say, I am thrilled I did nor have to wait until Monday! Thanks SSA!

Hey, I'm here in the midwest trying to recover from an ice storm and wondering if those contacted are from any particular region of the country, West, East, South, Midwest? I'm feeling like they maybe rethought the whole thing and are sure they can do without me. I sure would like a call. I made sure my cell was on today, but no call. Home has been off and on thanks to the wonderful telephone service and the ice storm. Surely they aren't calling office numbers on Saturday.

I had a message left on my home phone right after I left for errands and then the cell phone rang before I had driven 2 miles. I think they are calling whatever contact number was on the application and then the cell phone if you gave them that with your faxed materials (per their request).

carjack -
I am sure they will contact you tomorrow - they are working Sunday for a reason: to finish.
If you are in Oklahoma, Kansas or Missouri, God bless you - I share your misery.

carjack and others who have not been called -
Don't despair. I received my call yesterday and was offered several slots for my interview which means to me that they still have a lot of folks to call. The only advantage of an early call is that you may have more options in scheduling. Let's just hope there is no major snowstorm in the Washington D.C. area when the interviews are scheduled. It has happened before. I remember one year when the D.C. area was essentially shut down for almost two weeks.

The same with Patience, I was offered various slots over the 4-week period. I took the late slot on Wednesday of the first week. I was thinking about weather, also. With SATO, I was able to book a direct flight that morning, so I have time to relax beforehand. Having done 3 details to Falls Church previously, I was aware of the layout and opted for the Homewood Suites across the street from Central Office to spend the evening. That hotel has the perks of free breakfast and dinner and 24-hour cofee/tea (also, a McDonald's across the street and Popeye's down the block). Though across the street, it is about a 10-minute walk due crossing the traffic-laden, multi-lane "street."
I don't think it is being done regionally. I am the first in the 2 offices we have around here and there are at least 4 different names I have seen calling to make arrangements. Probably random names are being divvied up among the various schedulers.
