I know that our little corner of the world is now focused on the rejection letters and appeals for the new register. However, I think I saw in another post that the people on the cert for the prior register are starting to receive offers. In the interest of keeping my paranoia and anxiety in top form-can I ask if anyone has received an office? I would do one of those poll thingies-but I am not sure how to do it.

Good morning, I saw post about that also (offer being made). I heard from somebody who I trust that a colleague got an offer also. Not so good for me as I did not even get an interview. Oh well.

HOD, are you saying that you've heard of someone getting an offer off the final hire off the old cert? Last note I saw on the "March 2013 Cert" thread was that no offers were expected until the end of the month, as some folks on the cert had not yet been interviewed.

Well I hope we hear from some first hand reports. Since I am no longer considered qualified to be on a resgister-this is my last hope. :-)

Seems to be the case. This person (not first-hand source) was told that an offer was made. This is offer, based upon the final hire, off of the old certificate. This had nothing to do with the current testing.

I am also on the cert from the old register and have not been contacted by Bob or anyone from Falls Church. I agree with cougar and thought hiring decisions would be made at end of the month? I did not see a post that has info to the contrary but maybe I missed it...

I agree offers are unlikely absent a drum roll and a cloud of dust

I agree offers are unlikely absent a drum roll and a cloud of dust Having heard from the CALJ and DC at supplemental ALJ training this week, I can assure everyone no offers have been made, nor is there any budgetary authority to hire yet. They would like to hire 25-30 this FY if the authority comes through, and 150 -200 off the new register in mid FY 2014.

Stupid sequester. Any sense of how confident management is of getting that authority and or a timeline? I think they hope to know soon and sounds like they will have a hand full of interviews to do though, then offers could be made for the 25 or so if they get the gren light.

There is no sequester. Our POTUS stated during his Presidential debate that there would be no sequester. I heard it. On the other hand, SSA has the money to hire when they get ready to, if they didn't have the money, annual training would have been cut. Think about it. I think we will hear something in the next two (2) weeks. But then again, I was wrong once, I think. Stay thirsty my friends and enjoy your weekend. Drink it like you earned it and drive it like you stole it..

They do not interview with any particular location in mind, nor do they choose someone based on how they fit in a particular location.

Surprisingly, I agree with Bart on the budget issue this time. I doubt it is truly so tight that the Agency can't find the funds to hire 25-30 ALJs if it really wants to.
I think whether any ALJ offer will be made this FY all depend on whether Puzzle Palace sees 25-30 candidates worth picking up off this last cert.

DC Sklar said during supp training that he is contact with the budget guy, had called him that morning, and was thinking he would know about budgetary authority to go forward with a small hire (25-30) in the next week or two.

If it's on that kind of schedule, doesn't look like they think they need to interview those they haven't seen before.

Just means they will know if they can hire within the next week or two...not that they will actually extend offers. If they get the ho ahead to hire calls will go out quickly. Money im hand must be spent forthwith. What big bro giveth he might taketh away.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are no interviews this time. It is a very small hire and I think they know who they are going to pick up. Just my humble opinion, as usual..
