My current employer is the only one who has been contacted. He did not receive any negative feedback. He told me things went well. I had similar feedback from my supervisor. She said the interview lasted about 40 minutes and she was impressed with how thorough the interviewer was.

My current employer is the only one who has been contacted. Thank goodness I'm not the only one with just the employers having been contacted. I spoke to one ALJ today who said he hadn't heard anything. Another told me last week he hadn't gotten a call. My attorney references and my personal references told me they weren't called either. I was beginning to get paranoid. Hopefully its just the wheels turning slowly over at Yale. I know ... breathe!

I was contacted today regarding a friend who interviewed last week. The person with whom I spoke was very cordial, and seemed pleased with my responses.

My interview is on Friday, but one of my former supervisors called today to let me know that he had been contacted. They apparently dug way back to get him, since we have not worked together since 2001. Ah well, at least someone is interested.

My boss was just called today, but he was out of town for a hearing.
I talked to a sitting ALJ who indicated he was called twice while out of the office on a candidate, but when he came back and called back, as others have noted here, they said the investigation was closed on that person (or something like that).
I hope my boss (who should be a glowing reference) will get back to them in time to be helpful.

Any ideas on when reference checks will be completed? I assume there won't be offers until that process is done.

I flew out to DC the morning of Wednesday, 1/30/08 for my interview. That same day, four of my judicial references were called (including the chief judge at my current employment). All had been on the list I had faxed to the ODAR in December 2007.

On the flip side, I am a reference for a candidate who was interviewed at least a week ago, but I haven't been contacted yet; should the candidate be concerned?

I am a reference for several candidates who have been interviewed and I have not yet been contacted about any of them.

I interviewed on Friday. One of my references was contacted on Wednesday, and 3 more on Friday. This thing is picking up speed now.

Is there anyone that still hasn't had their listed references checked? I still only have the 2 employers, but none called from the judicial, attorney, personal category.
I left a message with Omnisec, but no one called back. If someone has a contact name & telephone number for Yale, can you please send it to me in a private message. If no one else is in my boat, I'd like to call Yale & find out what's going on. If there are others in this boat, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

I heard from a few of my references that they were called last week. I'm trying to check with the rest. My current employer was also called. Has anyone heard about previous employers? Mine go back to the mid-80's? I interviewed on Wednesday at 2:00 & saw the Commish there meeting with the interviewing judges.

After reading all of the postings regarding references, and with the normal paranoia this type of process can elicit.....I checked with some of the references I sent to ODAR in December. I knew that former supervisors had been contacted, and one "adversary" left me a message that he missed a call because he was taking a deposition, and when he called back he was told that they did not need information from him and that they had sent my file forward already. We were asked to list "at least three" in each of the three categories. I listed 4-5, because most of us are not always available because of work obligations. Four of my references listed under "adversaries" were interviewed. Three of four judges were called, but two were not available when called on Thursday or Friday and were told that their input was not needed when they returned the call the following Monday. So only one judge gave a reference for me. And only one personal reference was called, and that one was a former supervisor who was also called based on being listed on my application as a supervisor to contact. I had four other personal references, and none of them was even called. ? Was there a set number of interviews they were contracted to do regardless of which category the interviewee was listed under? And should I be worried that the personal reference interviewed was also interviewed separately as my supervisor? Does that leave me "short" a reference? Am I worried for nothing? How can one tell when we have no idea how any part of this counts and how they are going to make their selections? I am trying to be confident, but occasionally I have to wonder....what if? Anyone thoughts?

i too have had very few references called (to my knowledge). but i think checking references is less below the background check and interview. as another thread suggested, the interview is probably most important. i've hired people before and while references are valuable, i'd rather trust my own instincts when hiring a person, unless i personally know and trust the reference.
i'm not saying references are worthless, but the difference between 2, 4, 6, or 8 people telling ssa that you are wonderful is really not important. if you were competent and likeable in the interview, sit tight and hope they find you a spot. if you bombed the interview, 10 good references won't save you (or me). best of luck

I interviewed on 2/4, and at that time only one of my past supervisors had been contacted. Between Friday afternoon and Monday afternoon, an additional 6 people were contacted. This really is picking up speed now.

I and several of my colleagues were contacted today regarding references for a few candidates. The interviewer indicated that OCALJ wanted this done and submitted to them by COB today, but she did not think that would happen, given the number she still had left to complete. However, it did sound like she might be able to get done by COB tomorrow. She also indicated that they were required to contact 6 out of 12 references and that, by the time some people called back, they had already reached everyone they needed to for a particular candidate and had already turned the file back in.
