Where is the like button. I would add under warnings: ALERT: We keep the room really cold so bring your parkas.

I think that the process that OPM has used in the past has worked, so they keep it the same. Part of the testing process is the apprehension you feel by not knowing what exactly to expect. I don't remember the state bar giving me exact directions on what was or wasn't allowed in the room or what to expect for the bar exam. It is that unknown which leads to apprehension and builds suspense into the testing process, which makes those who have to deal with it understand it is just another part of the testing procedures to see if you can survive. As an ALJ, you are not going to know what the claimant or the attorney is or isn't going to say, so it is that unknown that you are learning to deal with in this process. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

"Funny elmerfuddgentry, but let's not be giving ideas to people who may attempt to scam the system and use it to make money from future exam takers. I know you are doing this to show the ridiculousness of the choices, but some of these are possible choices someone could use to attempt to scam the system for profit."
Seriously???

>> It is that unknown which leads to apprehension and builds suspense into the testing process, which makes those who have to deal with it understand it is just another part of the testing procedures to see if you can survive. << I don’t think OPM is either that smart or that Machiavellian. It’s probably too much effort for them to create a web page like the one I mentioned. They should just use that page as a template. Speaking of unknowns, I'll close out my participation in this thread with Donald Rumsfeld's famous quote: "There are known knowns; there are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns; that is to say, there are things that we now know we don’t know. But there are also unknown unknowns – there are things we do not know we don’t know." I just don't know ...

Anyone who can quote Rumsfeld's 'knowns and unknowns' quote knows a thing or two about life, so you keep participating and share your intellect.

>> Don't stop participating!!! <<
I'm not going away; I simply feel that we have beaten this topic to death and there is nothing more to say. I hope that someone from OPM will read this thread and consider posting something similar to the LSAT page as a guide for test participants in future examinations.
If I think of something pithy to add, I'll do it, but right now I am busy trying to fit a flash drive inside a rubber chicken ...

After completing the WD, I can report that the proctor told me the prohibition on personally-owned writing instruments was due to one of these and not the flash-drive-in-the-highlighter as previously reported. He also told me that OPM tests applicants from numerous agencies for various jobs, so the secret spy pen was not necessarily smuggled-in by an ALJ examinee.

That's what I heard too, way back in August. When folks started posting other items I just figured I was stressed/relieved from finishing the tests that I mis-heard the proctor.

[br When I reported the flash drive thing it was because that is what the proctor told me. Maybe a different proctor or a different episode or different OPM test group. Just reporting what he said. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

There was woman at the WD with me who had an "illegal" highlighter sitting on her desk the whole time. The proctors never said a word to her. I was so busy making sure it didn't contain a thumb drive, persicope, or listening device that I did poorly on my WD. Or maybe the WD just kicked my @$$ and her completely normal highlighter had no effect on my performance.

G, I know you killed the WD and LMBT. I didn't get a chance to talk to you after the SI, but I know you totally killed it, too. If for some reason you didn't blow the whole thing out of the water, I'd totally have to say it was the highlighter's fault! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

I appreciate that. I am certain you kicked its disagreeumption as well. I figured you would especially rock out the SI. I am just looking forward to co-chairing the entertainment committee at Fall's Church with you. Unless the high lighter got me..... ![B-|](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/notamused.png)

If the highlighter got you, I will personally hunt it down and kick its as*!
How about this, even if I don't get the invite to Falls Church (though I am choosing to remain optimistic), I will volunteer to travel to Falls Church with all of you guys and I will coordinate the entertainment for everyone! It will be a training like no one has seen before!

From the comments about a hot, cold and frigid exam room, and fleece jackets, am I correct in assuming that the dress code for the WD is strictly casual? I am packing this evening to get on a plane for DC tomorrow, so would appreciate a heads up if I only need to bring one good outfit.
