Here’s an update of songs, which reference locations I selected. The list is not in order of my preference, for city or song. It is also not totally inclusive of my selections. I don’t know any songs about Paducah and a few other locations.
Wichita Lineman – Glen Campbell Take Me Home To Tulsa – (I like the Asleep At the Wheel version) Route 66 – (Chicago, St. Louis, OK City is oh so pretty) Houston – Dean Martin Carolina In My Mind – James Taylor (Charlotte, Raleigh, Columbia, Greenville, Charleston Sweet Home Alabama – Lynard Skynard (Birmingham) Walking In Memphis – Marc Cohn Nashville Cats – Lovin Spoonful Burn On – Randy Newman (“There's a red moon rising On the Cuyahoga River Rolling into Cleveland to the lake”)
Run For the Roses – Dan Fogelburg (Louisville) Indiana Wants Me – R. Dean Taylor (Indianapolis, Evansville) Country Roads – John Denver (“Almost heaven, West Virginia”) Dayton, Ohio 1903 – Randy Newman

With all this wondering about whether the calls will start tomorrow (as per Pix) or not (as per JaggHagg), I think tonight's song will be "Whatever gets you through the night" by John Lennon.
(great audio, but very weird video)

Two possible additions for consideration:
For Knownuthin (and Morgullord, too): "Oh, Atlanta" by Little Feat
For all of us, the subject of the song may be different, but many of the symptoms are the same: "Shook me All Night Long" by AC/DC.

I think Govtattorney got it right with Journey's "Don't Stop Believing." And with a tip of the hat to David Chase of "The Sopranos" fame, I hope everything doesn't "go to black" for me if I don't get the call and instead receive a Dear John letter. Not to go too far afield, but is there general agreement here among fans of "The Sopranos" that Tony was whacked in the final episode? Just curious.

I have always found the music of Steely Dan to be inspirational waiting music. Wouldn't you agree? For example, consider these songs:
Any World That I'm Welcomed To Rikki Don't Lose That Number New Frontier King Of The World Boston Rag Caves Of Altimira Black Friday (perhaps, too pessimistic) Sign In Stranger Any Major Dude Will Tell You
and saving the best for last...

I suggest we adopt PARTY TRAIN by the Gap Band (1982) as our anthem for Monday, Feb. 25th, 2008. It's tough to argue against lyrics such as these --
All aboard
Every all aboard Anybody wanna take this ride Anybody wanna ride All it takes is a [single phonce call]
Be sure to get your ticket Hurry, don’t miss it Everybody’s got to stand in line So make sure that you too will be right on time
Everybody all aboard Everybody all aboard
Mmm Mmm All aboard
Don’t you miss it, baby If you miss that train Don’t miss the party train Oh...don’t you miss it, baby If you miss that train Don’t miss the party train
Everybody all aboard Oh...baby Everybody all aboard Mmm
Don’t you that train If you miss that train Don’t miss the party train Oh...ho...ho...ho... If you miss that train Don’t miss the party train
Your ticket, ooh Mmm, mmm Everybody all aboard Ho...ho Everybody all aboard
Every all aboard Anybody wanna take this ride Anybody wanna ride All it takes is [one phonce call]
Every all aboard Anybody wanna take this ride Anybody wanna ride All it takes is a [single phone call]
All aboard
Hee... Hee...hee... Ho...ho
Get down, get down, get down tonight We’re gonna party, gonna party on the train tonight Get down, get down, get down tonight We’re gonna party, gonna party on the train tonight
Get down, get down, get down tonight We’re gonna party, gonna party on the train tonight Get down, get down, get down tonight We’re gonna party, gonna party on the train tonight
Huh Huh Huh Huh
Gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta get on board Hey, hey, yeah Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, gotta come get on board, baby
Everybody all aboard Get your ticket, don’t you miss that train Everybody all aboard Get your ticket, don’t you miss that train
Everybody all aboard Get your ticket, don’t you miss that train Everybody
Feel free to sua sponte modify the lyrics as you deem appropriate. No doubt the song will be running through my head on Monday while I'm in federal court with my cell phone turned off.

One final song to contemplate, should you or I get a phone call with an offer (hopefully this week). "Should I Stay or Should I Go" by The Clash “Should I stay or should I go now? Should I stay or should I go now? If I go there will be trouble And if I stay it will be double So come on and let me know” I intend to beat Peejay’s time of 0.08 seconds to accept an offer. “So come on and let me know”

GP: As you may have guessed, "Blues Brothers" is another of my absolute tip-top favorites of all time but I would have to give the nod to "Animal House". Thanks! CTB --------- I may have to start a thread about favorite movies now, so that I don't derail this thread any further. But, just for the record, the top 5 funny flicks for me is rounded out by "Stripes", "40 Year Old Virgin", "Talladega Nights", and National Lamthingy's "Vacation." ;D I wasn't really into this thread, and didn't keep up with it. But I thought of a great song, and I am going through to see if someone already said it. And I have to give my 5 favorite comedies. Sorry for continued derailment. Monty Python and the Holy Grail Groundhog Day Airplane Stripes Blazing Saddles

Hey Props, I second your movie selections. I would make one addition, Caddy Shack.
Carl Spackler: Cinderella story. Outta nowhere. A former greenskeeper (decision writer), now, about to become the Masters champion (ALJ). It looks like a mirac... It's in the hole! It's in the hole! It's in the hole! ;D

Queen:
Under Pressure
Insanity laughs under pressure we're cracking Can't we give ourselves one more chance Why can't we give love Cos love's such an old fashioned word And love dares you to care for The people on the edge of the night And love dares you to change our way of Caring about ourselves This is our last dance This is our last dance This is ourselves Under pressure

I would just add one: In the clearing stands a boxer, and a fighter by his trade And he carries the reminders of every glove that laid him down or cut him til he cried out in his anger and his shame I am leaving, I am leaving, but the fighter still remains Yes he still remains Since we are still waiting: I love Simon and Garfunkel, and listened to "The Boxer" et al, including this one, another of my favorites, on my road trip to/from Atlanta this past weekend: "Well, those drifter's days are past me now, I've got so much more to think about, deadlines and commitments, what to leave in, what to leave out. Against the wind, I'm still running against the wind, I'm older now, but still running against the wind." -- Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band (love the Silver Bullet Band, too, with the keyboard and sax and drums) ;D
