Ok folks, this is the time us 3rd cert hopefuls need to cheer each other on in addition to cheering on our friends who are getting their emails for the 2nd certs. Ah, the golden tickets. Do not dispair! The emails coming out today are for certs for the January hire/class, which we were told earlier will be small. We still have a lot of hiring left through fiscal year 2015! Let's keep thinking of what others have said.... be patient. My score is not in range yet, so I know I will have to be patient. Maybe very patient. LOL! I know there are others out there with me. So lets take all those wise words we keep hearing about patience, marathon, and the like... and keep the faith!
In the meantime, hooray for all those who received the golden ticket for the November 2014 interviews! Congrats to all!

Well stated Sratty. I am with you all the way. I am extremely happy for our Board mates who made this cert and wish each and everyone of them well in their quest for an ALJ position. As for me, like you, I am not totally disappointed as I think this cert is for a small hire. If SSA continues on small hires it may even be another cert or two or more for some of us. I am close, but here a few points can mean 40 to 50 or so applicants or more, in front of me. In the meantime, I will keep my head up and continue to wait patiently, just like you. Hopefully, our time will come one of these days my friend. All we can do until then is wait!!!

FWIW two things are working here - it is a small cert AND they're tweaking the process. I might add that I keep hearing that there will be "hiring throughout 2015" - which is another good sign. For those of you waiting for the chance - a lot of you will be contacted, interviewed and appointed before this register runs its course.
Marathon, not a sprint and whatnot.

Thanks ace, we appreciate your kind words. We all are hoping to at least make a cert, so we can say we had a chance. Until then, we are just patiently waiting. I know you are also in a strange place already having interviewed, but not being hired. I will cross my fingers that this cert is your lucky one and you get a position my friend. You certainly deserve it. Keep hope alive my friend, until all chances run out. Good luck ace!

Here's hoping we won't have to wait another six months between certs!

There is also hope when folks decline locations. If I remember correctly, so new folks got emails on supplemental saturday last time (rather than just folks getting additional locations). Good luck!

The scores are getting closer... Seeing some of the scores is really impeding my ability to work right now.

Good luck everyone. I have heard it from the top at least three times this past few weeks that they plan to hire throughout 2015. The opportunity is worth the wait. Thanks DD! We all appreciate it. Hope your training is going well!

My score's been in range, but my very narrow GAL isn't on this round, either. So here's to having very good company on the watch for the THIRD Round. Three's the Charm, right?

I just received my cert with all 28 cities on it. As my GAL was wide open it doesn't surprise me. I will have to see how things go to see if I get lucky like Funky on the first cert he had or if I am more like Ace and have to wait to the second cert or beyond. Only time will tell.

Alas, no email for me. My own fault for limiting my GAL as I think my score might have gotten me an interview this time around. Ah well, here's to hoping my city makes the next cert and/or they randomly let us expand before the net cert.

My limited GAL is not on the cert....so maybe number 3 is the charm. I will just live vicariously through all of the fortunate this time around!

My GAL cities are not on this second go-round, so I am clearly a 3rd cert hopeful. It appears that SSA has tweaked the system. No one has indicated that they need to rank the cities, let's see about if/when that hapens. Because it took so long to get the offers out this past summer, SSA may have said f#%k it, candidates don't get to rank their cities. The 24 hour turnaround time is also a move in the direction of speeding things up. If they plan on doing multiple, small, directed hires, then this is how they could really do it. So, I am assuming they need 84 folks to get an email this go around IF they plan on hiring for 28 cities. I know cities may drop for the list, but it looks like we are missing quite a few folks. More emails are being sent today, and tomorrow may be your day if you haven't gotten an email yet! Good luck and a heartfelt congrats to all of you. great job, now go kill the interview (not the interviewer

We do get to rank the cities but that is optional.

We do get to rank the cities but that is optional. Thanks Gaidin. It seemed like no one mentioned it, so I thought they did away with that opportunity to rank cities. Glad to hear that SSA still wants to be a kinder, gentler, employer-of-choice of newby ALJs! And congrats to you! Who'd have thunk Lawrence would ever make a cert!
