In law school I had a friend who drank Blatz beer at breakfast because it was cheaper than milk. At least that was his story. Blatz could definitely qualify as a meal in a can.

My DC date is in less than two weeks and, while I wasn't expecting it to be a walk in the park, I hardly thought the testing would be comparable to the bar exam.
Without fully realizing it, I must confess that I was feeling a bit overconfident. Re: the WD, I know I can write a good ALJ-style opinion, and I understand the LBMT can "help me but not hurt me." However, I also know that I may not do well on either, and that I need all the help I can get!
A little stage fright is a healthy thing! Thanks, friends, for the correction on perspective - obviously, much needed.
PS In the event this post even remotely sounds like I'm fishing for details on the DC portion, I absolutely am not. I know it's verboten and, regardless, it'd be poor form.

Uhmm the LBMT is factored in as part of an overall NOR score. A bad score there will definitely hurt you in the long run.

Yeah, the hotel bar was important but quite honestly, the cigarette I had after emerging from OPM testing day was the best d#*m one I had. That was not a week to think about quitting!

People must always realize that post-appointment Funky was placed in (Gasp! Oh the horror, the horror!!!)...a dry county. As he survived that insanity, those who have yet to walk into this arena should tip their frosty mugs in silent homage. And to those who are about to be posted in similar counties, we salute you!

Not harder than the Bar exam. Be rested and confident in what you bring to the table.

Comparison (without divulging info):
Bar exam: one spends 3 years in prep and then with help of fellow students and professors in study sessions can access prior exams with essentially all the same Q&A to study and then can purchase a prep course that will take you through prior bar exams such that the actual bar exam you do eventually take is all but an exercise in rote memorization.
DC exam: one spends a minimum of 7 years in prep for an exam of which likely has no bearing on your 7 years experience, you will have zero access to prior exams, zero access samples to similar Q&A to study, there is no prep course available and there is only 1 question on the WD of which thumbs up/thumbs down will be your score before or after which you will be asked to provide logical answers to a federal government test of logic (i.e. anyone see the conflict there?) and thereafter shuffle up to meet in persons who will adjudicate your oral answers to specific questions of which you are not privy to preview nor recall post hoc.
Relax, you got this.

Just thanks all you sharers of tips/experiences. This process makes you a little crazy. But imagine dong it in isolation without a clue - insanity times infinity. So again much thanks for helping me by giving me insighr and perspective.

As one of the folks who got the email out of the blue on Friday, August 10, I am delighted that OPM is going down to the bottom drawer of the fridge for the Keystone Light! And thanks for the post funkyodar.

And thanks for the post funkyodar. There are probably 2 or 3 thousand bottles on other shelves who didn't get the DC invite. Many of them would make fine judges if given the chance. Er, I mean would quench one's beer thirst.

I am keeping an eye on this thread as it had started down the road to contentiousness, but you guys are doing a good job of self moderating. Keep it up. Pixie.
