I applied to the December posting. Had my first interview in Jan and within a week was scheduled for my second interview. My references were checked shortly after my 2nd interview, but radio silence since. Has anyone received an offer from the December posting?

I was told that a class is starting April 8,2024. Not sure if they stem from the October or December 2023 posting.

If there were degree programs in “getting ghosted by federal agencies after interviewing,” I’d have a PhD. I hope to see some movement for you folks. Eventually, EOIR will close the notification on USAJOBS, and you aren’t technically out of it until then. Have hope. Be realistic, but don’t lose hope.

I’m not sure if anyone from Dec has gotten an offer yet, but if they have I think there probably wouldn’t be time for them to get all the background check stuff done in time for the April class.

I just got an email from EOIR that they plan to open up the IJ announcement/application process again soon. I’m on their email list; it’s not some special and/or secret piece of information.
The email said it will post next week on USAJOBS.

How many times have you applied for a job, been rejected, and then received an offer?
Many years ago, I applied to clerk for a judge- Judge 1 interviewed me, turned me down, but passed me on to Judge 2. Same thing for Judge 2, who passes me on to Judge 3. I ended up interviewing with 4 judges in total and Judge 4 hired me. Judge 4 ended up being the best mentor/boss to me and I know I had a better experience than the other clerks.
I see that some of us have applied 2-3 times already, interviewed, had references checked, only to be turned down or ghosted in the end. I’m not losing hope (yet) and plan to reapply again. Good luck everyone in the next round!

I've applied 3xs. Last time in December. I was interviewed in January and references called. I just received a tentative offer and I sent all requested forms. I'm hoping all goes well and this is it. Not sure when the next class starts, but hope to get a EOD letter soon. Patience is truly a virtue.

Does anyone on this forum happen to know whether or not EOIR reviews applications by the courts selected in the application process, or are they all reviewed in one pile? In other words, is EOIR sensitive to the courts or regions you are willing to serve in when they review applications, or agnostic to your selections?

Why do they limit it to three city preferences? I would go more places than three, but not anywhere.
And of course, two of the three places I most wanted to go are not on the questionnaire list.
Oh well, guess I’d better expand my horizons.

Oh well, guess I’d better expand my horizons. Pick your top three and then add a page to your resume or cover letter stating which other places you’d consider. It can’t hurt.

Does anyone know if IJs have to work at "administrative control courts" or can they work at "other hearing locations" listed on EOIR's website? Only administrative control courts are listed in the job announcement as far as I can tell, but does that necessarily mean that's where you have to report for work?

Can you give an example of an “other location”? I think all locations are administrative control courts. And IJs are hired for and assigned to an administrative control court. I may be misunderstanding your question though.
