The ssa.gov press release has been changed to 144 now.

Yes, it is now 144 - but the key number remains unchanged - a total of 175 will be hired this fiscal year. So the missing 6 spots will be added to the 25 previously announced.

According to recent statements by the CoSS, yes, reportedly with different locations from the 71 on the first certificate.

Does seem peculiar nobody here has reported a call - we have some heavy hitters on this board [not referring to myself....I'm just heavy]

144 phone calls is a lot. We can probably expect this to take a few days. Don't you think?

No question about how long it will take, but we had 103 on this board at one point on this board - and none of them have received an offer?

I'm w/judicature on this one, I don't think offers are really out until someone on this Board reports having received one. (Sorry, tootsie, how about if you LOSE your pick and we're in Judge school together, I'll buy you that beer!)

Hey OK by me! I wonder if there are only a very few calls being made today, you know, so the press release rings true? Ack! There's that "ring" word again!

I agree with Judicature and secondchance--until one of the regulars on this board reports receiving an offer, I won't believe that the final phase of this hiring process has begun. The demographics of this group are such that a statistically significant portion of us (even if it is not me) will receive an offer.

Someday we will look back at this and laugh . . .and laugh. . .and laugh. Until the orderly gives us a shot. ;D

I apologize for stating the obvious, but we have all been through a most unusual process and one that has tested our abilities and our resolve in many ways. We have made it this far with just one more flaming hoop to jump through hopefully in the next day or so. So hang in there everybody, keep biting your nails and lighting candles. Good hunting to us all. ARRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!! CTB

I haven't ventured over to the other board in months. However, does anyone know what they are saying over there about offers going out today?

So, will the additional 25+ be hired off of a new certificate? Judge Cristaudo said last Friday, to the assemblage at the Atlanta CLE, that the last 25 ALJs would be hired off a new certificate after another round of interviews.

The other board has significantly less information posted. Nothing worth a visit.

My inside sources say the calls are going out today to the lucky 144, and 1/3 of them will be current SSA writers and the other 2/3 will be outsiders. Although I will hate to lose some very good writers, I wish you all the best. Please let us know when you get the call and where you are going to be assigned. ~ Kingfisher

Someday we will look back at this and laugh . . .and laugh. . .and laugh. Maniacally PS - Somewhere last night Tootsie said she had been lingering on the Boards, refreshing her screen - in search of news of offers, of course, like everybody else. I might just suggest that there seems to be an electronic limitation as to how many people can BE on the Boards at one time. I am sure I am not the only one who has hit the link for these Boards only to find there are too many users and no space for me! So. That being said, sitting on the Boards may well work to everyone's detriment because then as people DO get offers, they might be blocked from coming on the Boards to post in Boley's "Official Offer" thread. It's just a suggestion, but we all might consider hitting the Boards for information and then logging off to ensure everyone gets a chance to see what is going on. We can always come back later......

I remember the Commission saying there were only 50 on the entire register and I know of 2 who did not make the cert.

I remember the Commission saying there were only 50 on the entire register and I know of 2 who did not make the cert. It's been widely debated what the 50 referred to, but it could not be an absolute number. I personally know of 8 ODAR attorneys on the cert (not just the register) from one city - unless it's the highest quality city in the country, 50 seems low. According to VEs, my city and its environs account for 1/50th of the country.
