There are a few see details folks. However, in another thread OPM indicates very clearly that it is terminating the competitive register, so I'm not sure that it matters!

I'm pretty sure that notice has been up for quite a while. I recall something similar if not exactly the same, from shortly after the EO was issued.

I'm pretty sure that notice has been up for quite a while. I recall something similar if not exactly the same, from shortly after the EO was issued. The memo came out in July, but the website was unchanged until recently. I last checked it in late July/early August and it still talked about the competitive exam then.

I assume OPM test-takers would receive either a letter or email confirmation of their test scores (and next steps), based entirely on what I heard from 2017 test-takers. But, of course, that notice format was pre-EO, so who knows if the 2018 scores: 1) will even be released, or 2) be a factor in the next round of ALJ selections.
Regardless, good luck to all who remain poised atop pins and needles. Hopefully, the uncertainty will not continue much longer.

Your score is X, but this is now meaningless? I wish it would at least come with travel reimbursement (will not happen).

I can envision something along the lines of the updates to the ALJ hiring website, where the NOR looks similar if not the same to NORs in the past but has that notice about the EO as well. I guess we’ll see what, if anything, we get in the next couple of weeks.

Another collateral damage issue that bothers me is all the time and attention to detail that you put into the collection of data for the board, that is now probably worthless. Perhaps it will prove useful one day, but that may be a long way down the road, if then. Pixie

Go to the thread OPM updated their website on hiring.
Read it and ......weep.
Weep for the NOR's that shall be no more, Weep for the dreams of GAL's by a shore, Weep for the hope of finding you're invited To and interview that could see your job hopes requited.

Trying to look on the "bright side" here (if there is a bright side):
If you did poorly on the 2018 test and EO is upheld, the EO is perhaps a blessing in disguise as the poor scores will be discarded/ignored and you have a new (and hopefully better) shot at getting hired as an ALJ by the agency doing the hiring of future ALJs directly. If you did very well on testing but EO upheld and scores are still discarded, the SAME outcome since those high test scores are rendered irrelevant or carry little weight. So, either way, IMHO worrying about past test scores is kind of a waste of time....:-)

They are definitely doing some housekeeping tasks. Just received notice that the Boston office OMHA JA was “canceled.” No longer a “duty station,” but have no fear we have 10 other offices. Keep trying shark boy.
Hey, thanks for letting me know. Not much by way of a suprise at this late date, but thanks.

Hang in there. Referrals, but not much more. Have heard of some interviews. Keep plugging along.

Pretty much how I feel. If it happens, great! If not, I will be fine. I think I would be good at it, but who on this board doesn’t?
Really just want an interview so I feel like I had a fair shot at it.
Have a great holiday weekend!

First time applicant. The top of my screen says "See Details Tab," but my External Assessment is "Complete." Bad news for me?

mls...Sorry to hear that. I hope it won't discourage you from applying again (under whatever "new" post-EO process is eventually developed for future ALJ hiring).
In addition to watching for future fed AA openings, I've also thought of considering a job as an admin. law judge for a state agency. Of course, the pay scale is less than the federal ALJ pay scale but the daily activities seem very similar (conducting hearings, reviewing evidence, rendering decisions). And becoming a state agency judge seems a logical, good career option for those of us stuck in post-EO limbo for the foreseeable future (prob. the next couple of years). Also, I imagine state ALJ experience would be viewed as a big plus in the eyes of those hiring federal ALJs.
I would esp. welcome any comments from those who were state ALJs prior to becoming federal ALJs. Did you feel your state ALJ experience was an advantage/benefit in making the transition to "Federal ALJ Land"?

Over the past five years, I think at least five ALJs from the state office I work with have become either an SSA ALJ or an IJ. I also know of several who have unsuccessfully tried to make the move. I have to believe that getting several years' of experience as a state ALJ would make you a stronger candidate. What is uncertain is how it would affect your ranking in the first few years after becoming an ALJ. In hiring there's a bias against people who have a history of frequent or recent job changes, but if you want to look at taking a state ALJ job as a potential long-term job and not just a stepping-stone to fed ALJ, then I'd say go for it. It really is a great job, even though the pay will probably never get close to what the feds pay.

Here is the thread that should answer all questions about status changes in Application Manager. Pixie
