help, but please, no gators It is clearly you, Pixie -- you don't like the gators! Nor do I like sharks, especially bull sharks which can live in fresh water for extended periods of time, perhaps several days. That is long enough to enable them to travel up fresh water rivers that empty into salt water looking for unsuspecting victims. Last week there was a bull shark attack close to the beach in South Florida. Fortunately it was a small shark (is there any such thing?) of about 5' or 6' that got the guys arm, but didn't sever it, just got some good bites. Don't know if he lost the arm. Youse guys can have Florida.

Now that is a complex legend. I think it is a bit much for our bayou.

Humm. 'Mysterious' deletion of the thread. The necessity to use code words to prove you are who you are. I suspect the game is afoot and I know what is going on - its the pod people! Yes, straight from "Invasion of the Body Snatchers'.
And Pixie, I have bad news for you (or the pod replacement of you, if that is the case), ALL sharks can swim in fresh water. There are sharks in Lago Nicaragua that use a river to go back and forth to the ocean. In the early 1900s there were several great white attacks about five miles up a river in VA or NC (been too long since I read all this). Just when you thought it was safe to go into (fresh) water! Da Dum Da Dum Da Dummmm.

Never heard of a great white being in fresh water. This is news to me. A very blonde friend of mine, who had no fear of sharks, once told me, "I don't know how anyone can get eaten by a shark. I mean, can't they hear the music?"

I mean, can't they hear the music?" I think it was NJ in 1916 or so. This event was the basis for the Peter Benchley book that later became jaws. I saw a movie on Netflix (I think) about it awhile back. But yeah GW shark (they hypothesize, and I think there is some evidence supporting it) attacked swimmers on the beach, next day or so it swam up an inlet river and attacked and killed a a couple people. Here it is: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jersey_Shore_shark_attacks_of_1916Technically I think it is correct that, in the US at least, only bull sharks regularly take to living in freshwater, though even then they are thought to keep to ocean side of things, where water is more brackish. That said, I'll be reading up on lake Nicaragua, sounds interesting.

That is old news. Wonder when the pictures of him sleeping in a hammock on the beach will appear?

This whole saga is fascinating. Is there any discussion of changes in how ALJs are managed or audited as a result of this mess?
