Humm. 'Mysterious' deletion of the thread. The necessity to use code words to prove you are who you are. I suspect the game is afoot and I know what is going on - its the pod people! Yes, straight from "Invasion of the Body Snatchers'. And Pixie, I have bad news for you (or the pod replacement of you, if that is the case), ALL sharks can swim in fresh water. There are sharks in Lago Nicaragua that use a river to go back and forth to the ocean. In the early 1900s there were several great white attacks about five miles up a river in VA or NC (been too long since I read all this). Just when you thought it was safe to go into (fresh) water! Da Dum Da Dum Da Dummmm. "Break Break Skyking Skyking Do Not Answerer Mike Echo Oscar Whisky. I say again Mike Echo Oscar Whisky" I know they can swim in fresh water, I just didn't know they could breathe in fresh water. Every time I have tried it, I just get choked on the water. Never heard of a great white being in fresh water. This is news to me. A very blonde friend of mine, who had no fear of sharks, once told me, "I don't know how anyone can get eaten by a shark. I mean, can't they hear the music?" What, she was quoting Jimmy Buffett?

I disagreeessment remains as in an earlier thread, treatment of the whistle blower was just repulsive. I believe there is also a civil suit by these two employees. Disgraceful.

Last night while mowing my backyard a guy came walking down the semirural road that runs in front of my property. He asked me the name of the road. Since we are friendly in this neck of the woods, I told him the name of the road and how far he was away from the interstate. I asked him how he had ended up walking on an unknown road. He mumbled he had come over the mountain from Lick or Legg Fork which are places unknown to me. He continued down the road and did not answer when I inquired, Mr. Conn, is that you?

The rickster has repeatedly shown just what kind of thing he is. Bigfoot would never associate with the rickster.

The rickster has repeatedly shown just what kind of thing he is. Bigfoot would never associate with the rickster. Maybe greendog needs to put some greendog karma on the rickster. For example -- "The rickster will not be found" or "The rickster will not be located by the FBI in the next 10 days" or something similar! I cannot dare to speak for the greendog -- but I can suggest he assist the authorities with his greendog magic!

Maybe Conn has been absorbed by the hobo jungle that Merle Haggard sings about.....

Love it. That HOCALJ was one of my trainers when I started as an ALJ, back when it was praiseworthy to crank out obscene numbers.

I wish an accurate litmus test for integrity could be developed. We all know that sociopaths are attracted to power (and not all people in power are sociopaths). Once a sociopath has power, a sociopathic boss will manipulate and abuse anyone who stands in their way. All while maintaining the appearance of being kind, reasonable, rational, professional and fair. If you look closely though, you can see the cracks. However, I am not sure an interview process could weed out those who would squish subordinates who choose to take the high road. Heaven help those who oppose an abusive superior who is engaging in wrongful activities. And, I agree, the path toward vindication by victims is a long, scary process requiring great strength to survive to the end. That is how abusive superiors can remain in power for a long period of time without being stopped. They and upper management hold all the cards. Their victims don't. You want to keep your job, get a good review or job reference, promotion, training....don't oppose the sociopathic superior. It is wrong, but it happens every day with taxpayer funding.

I meant to say, as stated in the earlier thread, punishing the whistleblower is repulsive action. It is easy to vilify Mr. Conn and certainly he is worthy of it, but my concern is that a whistleblower was punished. After this happened, SAA employees received training about the laws pertaining to whistleblowers. We were told, "If you see something, say something." Great message, but there is a disconnect between the message and action taken. The situation in this office did not occur a few months before it became public. It did not occur a few years before action was taken. It went on for years and years. Many people must have known. The whistleblower was labeled the "problem." She was punished. Mr. Conn escaped. The ALJs involved received sentences, but they were not harassed while still working. The greatest negative from all this may be the effect it has on the whistleblower act. It remains as enacted, but who will be brave enough to speak up in the future? All good points. I remember when these whistleblowers were described as the problems.

"Adkins’ attorney requested a mental evaluation for Adkins, saying there is reason to think that he might be suffering from a mental disease that will leave him unable to assist in preparing for his sentencing." I wonder if Adkins will provide his own medical source statement in support.

I am having visions of Conn emerging during the totality on Monday with a "bwahaha", only to melt like the bad guys at the end of which Indiana Jones flix when the eclipse ends. But I doubt we would get so lucky.

If only the U.S. had a wall on the border with Mexico, we could have kept Mr. Conn in.

If only the U.S. had a wall on the border with Mexico, we could have kept Mr. Conn in. What makes the wall so hard to design is that it has to be totally impermeable from the south and totally porous from the north.

What makes the wall so hard to design is that it has to be totally impermeable from the south and totally porous from the north. That would be a trivial engineering challenge. The principle is akin to those road spikes keeping drivers from entering parking lot exits. But is total southbound porosity truly sought after?

Probably depends on which side of the NAFTA debate you fall.
