10/12/2016 Just finished WD testing 32 seats in our testing room. 29 on the sign in sheet; 27 signed in (2 no-shows) 11 men 16 women Age-wise, the majority were 40-55. Just a couple of youngsters and a couple of sages. Few government employees; fewer "insiders." There were a lot of visitor badges. From the number of suits, I would guess that there were not a lot of board members Myself, I was in yoga pants and sneakers and was supremely comfortable. Temperature was cooler than I'd expected. I layered a tank top, t-shirt, long-sleeved shirt, and light jacket. I took off the jacket, but was comfortable in the rest. Stayed at State Plaza last night which was amazing as advertised. Took the metro from the airport to Foggy Bottom without significant delay, but I wasn't pressed for time. Headed to Embassy Suites after the LMBT; State Plaza is holding my luggage today during testing. I signed up at midnight, so I'm interested to see my interview time. EDIT: I got a 1:00 interview time; talked to another guy who signed up at midnight; he got 2:15. If I gain any other info that I think would be beneficial, I'll be sure to report back! Edit from the afternoon: it got hotter! Long-sleeve shirt came off

10/13/14 Stats: I counted 26 people in the room. 12 women. I would guess that about 10 fell in the 35 to 40 range, most in the 40-50 range and a few 50+. Very few people wearing suits, others were in variations of casual, mostly jeans and khakis. The room was very warm. I am normally cold when others are comfortable, so heed the advice to layer.
I met at least 4 insiders, one of which also has military experience. There were at least 2 judicial law clerks and two former state judges.
Most of the people I talked to had narrow GALs, but a few obvisouly knew the program and said that they would go anywhere with hopes of transferring.
State Plaza was lovely, and unexpectly had a kitchen in the room. It is a nice boutique hotel. I switched to the Embassay Suits in Alexandria just now. Room is also lovely, but the typical chain hotel. The traffic was horrible and it took about 30 to 45 minutes to get here. I have no idea if that is of any value to those coming to the interview in the morning.

Tested today 10/17. There were 27 on the sign in sheet about 50/50 men to women.
I registered right at midnight and got 10:00 am SI slot for what that's worth.
Edit: I edited to correct the date. See below. Didnt want those compiling the stats to get confused

I will add from yesterday that I was surprised at how many insiders there were. Also I got 1pm interview but signed up at midnight so really appears random.

Tested today. 10/18/16. 31 testers. Many board lurkers! My count for Oct 18 LBMCT and WD was same. 18 F's, which logically leads to result of 13 m's, which is about the high point of my logicality today. BTW, there are two, possibly three big Hilton hotels right next to each other, make sure you get the right one! I nearly picked the wrong one to go to tomorrow! Coffee before? I'll try the Uptowner over Dunkin Donuts. Passphrase is, 'How's the java, Joe?" (or, Jo) ;-)

The earthquake drill delayed the start of the afternoon session for about 30 minutes, and we were excused from evacuating the building, but were privileged to listen to the blaring announcements to drop under a desk and then to evacuate the building. My count was 30 candidates, one with accommodations. A bunch of SSA insiders and at least two military. Nice spectrum geographically. The admins for the test were cheerful and very helpful.

Tested 10/25/16. 29 names on sheet all seemed to be there. About 50-50 man/woman ratio. There appeared to be some insiders/fed employees. A large range of ages as well.

I forgot to mention I found the room temp to be fine. I'm generally cold, for whatever that is worth. I wore jeans and a t-shirt, and had a sweater just in case.

Along with a few other members, I tested on 10/24. There were 30 registrants, but one no-show. There were a couple open testing spots, so the test room is set up to hold more than 30. There was a fairly large age range, but with the majority of testers appearing to be in their upper 40s. But, I did not ask anyone for their age! I found the testing room to be surprisingly warm.

As one who tends to be generally more sensitive to heat than most, I wore a polo shirt and jeans and found the room to be almost to the point of uncomfortably warm. Had I worn a long sleeve shirt, I would have been boiling. FWIW.

About 50/50 male to female. I viewed the age range as a bit more narrow. I'd guess that 80% were in the 40-50 age range but I'm not great at guessing ages. I didn't chat with a bunch of persons but every one that I did was an SSA insider. Somebody noted above that the room can hold more than 30 testers. The room, as configured, can hold 32 testers. I found the room to be quite warm in the afternoon.

I tested 10/31/16. 30 people were registered, and 30 people tested. 21 women and 9 men. Ages seemed to range from mid-30s to a couple of 60-somethings, with most I would guess in the 40s and 50s. One woman I spoke with works at ODAR, a man I spoke with works for the FBI, two men work as an ALJ for a different states, one woman in private practice (2nd-time tester).
The room didn't seem uncomfortable, but the cafeteria seemed warm at lunch. A few people were in suits, but most were business casual. I would recommend business casual, unless you really feel at ease in a suit.
If anyone reads this who happened to test on the same day, I'd like to connect here with you. I'm interested in knowing how my testing cohort fares in the end.

11/3 testing - 30 test takers, two open seats (rescheduled/no shows). Probably 60-40 women to men. Age range low 30s to probably upper 50s or low 60s, most in their upper 30s and 40s. At least 6 Odarians and some other federals.
