I think that given the number of applicants, each city probably has at least a few high scorers that rank it highly. Stockton may sound horrible to some but for the guy or gal living in Livermore and commuting to San Jose it may look like heaven. In short, systemically speaking, craplandia does not exist. My two cents If you don’t want to catch San Joaquin Valley fever (Coccidioidomycosis) in Stockton (airport code SCK), do not inhale when a dust devil blows by, and refrain from playing in the soil or gardening, especially after recent rain following a long dry spell. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/CoccidioidomycosisId. This has been a greendog public service announcement to help keep gentrification out of SCK. (!)

The FAA sure picked the right three-letter identifier for Stockton. Fresno's is FAT.

#2 What's it like to live in Colorado Springs, CO?
Hmm I don't know about Colorado Springs. I watch Homicide Hunter with Lt. Joe Kenda on ID Network, and it seems that there are an unnatural amount of murders that take place there.

Looks like Ky is pretty d... dangerous too. Or at least Hollywood is convinced Ky is the most dangerous state in the country. Justified looked like it was very close to Middlesboro. old harlan county, ky(for Justified that is).

I'd think it's pretty decent inasmuch as you have Colorado College, small school but excellent reputation, you have the AF Academy, so it's not all people who've lived there since the year dot nor is it a seasonal town like Aspen; you have Denver in proximity which means cheap flights to many places, you have a lot of great hiking and biking, and of course in the winter you have some great skiing you don't have to fly to.

Back when I was an ADA I'd watch Law and Order, and in a typical season they would have at least 30-40 homicides in that one precinct (24 episodes, almost all had at least one murder, many were multiple homicides); meanwhile the entire island of Manhattan would have something like 20 murders. It was also never clear how the Enterprise never ran out of random unnamed Ensigns who died each episode. And shouldn't state or federal authorities have stepped in to deal with that high school Buffy the Vampire Slayer went to?

I am a HUGE fan of Midsomer Murders, a British television series that has been on the air since 1997. Midsomer is a fictional and tiny village in Great Britain, and the per capita murder rate there would suggest that the village should have ceased to exist in season seven or eight. It is amazing how they keep the story lines flowing!

Try the teeny-tiny Caribbean island of St. Marie, smaller than Guadaloupe and St. Lucia, where there has been 15-20 murders per season for 8 seasons (Death in Paradise- BBC- great show!)

JGs) I mean they are Navy, after all. Although I will say I have known some fine ones who went to that Navy service school in Annapolis. Pixie

And shouldn't state or federal authorities have stepped in to deal with that high school Buffy the Vampire Slayer went to? The show frequently tongue-in-cheek referenced the fact that so many people from Sunnydale High died. During Buffy’s time in high school, the Mayor would’ve largely covered up anything to authorities outside of town. Later, the Initiative performed a similar function.

Mercury, are you also an Angel fan? If so, I can send you a truly original version of the theme as sung by my very young kids at the time, where every actor's name was painstakingly sung with prolonged syllables and much, "whoa" as necessary between. I can't imagine anyone else would love it, but it is a classic! PM of course, these Philistines may not need the rock! (Jk, its crazy) Also, I should add that at least per training conference call, KY statewide should get writers in the double digits.

Interestingly, until recently Bridgeport was a city that gentrification seemed to go around rather than settle into.
Find it hard to believe it would be that expensive though they could mean that they don't want to live in the hood.
Boston you can find some pockets of reaonableness but you have to not mind jet noise etc. Revere still has some good deals.
San Fran you gotta look, but even using my method--think like a (grad) student, it gets tougher every month. The plus you have is you are a steady income. However in rich cities landlords may be willing to gamble for the astronomical.
That is the grace of the out of the way, the Mt. Pleasant's of this ALJ world.
Happy trails!

I was surprised to see Bridgeport on this list too. I shudder to think what the cost of living is in other parts of Fairfield county, conn

I'm telling you Middlesboro, KY, has some good points in its favor! It has been unfairly labeled with the C word.
