Not even gonna look at it. We have some friends on Florida's west coast who wanted us to come down and spend a day or two before we went on to the Islands. I thought that would be nice and we were discussing it. I then realized what I was doing and immediately found a reason to beg off. No more Florida for me. Too many dangers lurketh, and in my past life I have used up 8 of my 9 lives. I am lucky to even have one left. Don't want to waste it in that horrid Florida. Pixie Instead of lions, tigers, and bears, it’s gators 🐊, hurricanes, and big bugs 🐜 for pixie! And oh yeah humidity 🤮

Don't forget sharks snd snakes. Along with gators, those are the big three. The whole state is a danger zone waiting to get a poor small pixie. I mean a gator or a shark could have me in just one chomp.

Now the heat, humidity, and mosquitos are another story.

Try telling that to the latest guy who lost his leg, and almost his life in the Gulf not long ago. Or to the parents of that child who was dragged away by an alligator near Disneyland not long ago. Pixie Non issue. I believe your chances of getting struck by lightning in Florida are much higher than getting hurt by a gator. PS Most Floridians know not to go swimming in canals and murky ponds, and to keep half an eye on same.

You can whistle in the dark all you want, but I have read about those attacks in the Gulf and in the Atlantic. Florida is the shark bite capitol of the entire world. Not for me.

Fair enough, I'm in no hurry to return there myself. For me it's the weather and the insects though, especially the mosquitos (they LOVE me, I'm their favorite dish). Just an FYI though: you should add lightning to your list of reasons not to go there. South Florida, especially the Tampa Bay area, is known as the lightning capital of the world.

Don't like lightning either, but I have enough reasons to steer clear of the entire area without adding lightning to the list. And, agreed, don't like the bugs and the humidity either.

Current SSA ALJ locations in latest job announcement: Birmingham, AL Montgomery, AL Fort Smith, AR Phoenix, AZ Fresno, CA Long Beach, CA Los Angeles, CA Moreno Valley, CA San Bernardino, CA Indianapolis, IN Lexington, KY Louisville, KY Alexandria, LA Metairie, LA New Orleans, LA Shreveport, LA Springfield, MA Portland, ME Mount Pleasant, MI Minneapolis, MN Springfield, MO Hattiesburg, MS Jackson, MS Rochester, NY Cincinnati, OH Dayton, OH Tulsa, OK Johnstown, PA Memphis, TN Harlingen, TX Salt Lake City, UT Charlottesville, VA Charleston, WV Huntington, WV So, I'm bumping this. From 2019, these were the offices that were listed in the announcement (but no hiring occurred, right?) If they are still in play, I do see my #1 choice on the list for 2022. Perhaps this gives insight into where the 25 openings might be?

Perhaps this gives insight into where the 25 openings might be? It looks like only 8 of these cities were picked in the preferred location poll. I don't know if that means this list doesn't matter or our preferred locations don't matter. Johnstown seems like a good bet though, I think they are down to one judge.
