Yeah no. Although they don't give us the same courtesy with callbacks, I always make sure to accept or decline jobs when offered. Period. Disappearing just angers everyone.

Rocky environment, indeed. Note this section of the job description: "Confer with and act in a senior advisory capacity to the Director on a wide range of highly complex and emerging policy issues facing the Bureau, including advising and consulting on the policy considerations concerning the interpretation and application of consumer financial protection laws and regulations." Policy is the part that changes with the administration, isn't it? As in, "it is the policy of this administration to..."

Ah! A question for the federal government about the nature of positions and what people do in them! You should be able to find the answer to that one pretty quickly. Just take the first door and/or staircase on your left.

Qualifications seem vague. I wonder if they will only hire someone with a bankruptcy background. If it’s anything like magistrate hiring, it will end up being a prominent member of the local bankruptcy bar.

Qualifications seem vague. I wonder if they will only hire someone with a bankruptcy background. Yes, the qualifications seem vague to those of us who are used to jumping through the OPM, and now SSA and OMHA, hoops. But really, what more is needed? Although, I would have thought a working knowledge of bankruptcy law and procedure would be required. I found this statement to be interesting: "The Federal hiring process is setup to be fair and transparent." Whoever wrote this has never dealt with the opaque OPM process. Not saying it wasn't fair, but it was anything but transparent. Pixie

Don't bother applying for Bankruptcy Court unless you are an insider. I was impressed with most of them back in the day when I did a lot of bankruptcy litigation, but all of the judges fit one of these qualifications:
Well-respected, experienced bankruptcy litigator or trustee. Friend of US District Court Judge. Clerk of US District Court. US Magistrate Judge.
Since they are appointed for a term by judges of the governing circuit Court of Appeals, it is virtually unheard of to slide in without the above.
