Pixie - the stories you share had me thinking you are the female version of Dos Equis' "The Most Interesting Man in the World" character. Is there anything you haven't done? With all you know about music and instruments, what is your favorite instrument to play? If you could be on stage with any artist or band, who would it be, and where would you want to play? I've never flown an F-4 and probably a few other things. I have found I have regrets, not so much for what I have done in the past, but more so, for what I haven't done. My most favorite instrument will have to remain a secret. Doesn't mean I can play it with any degree of expertise, but it is my favorite. Put me on stage at what used to be Avery Fisher Hall* with Muddy Waters, Little Walter and the rest of The Muddy Waters Blues Band. They were not only good musicians, but more importantly, they were, and still are, good guys. ________ * The naming rights for Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center was sold back in the early 70s for about 10 million. Previously it had been Philharmonic Hall when newly constructed in the early 60s. If I remember correctly, the Fisher family was given a settlement of several million, and the naming rights were sold again, this time for really big bucks, I think maybe 100 million? It is now known as David Geffen Hall. It will, however, always be Avery Fisher Hall for me.

Those rare times when the covers are better than the originals.
Two examples.

For those of you waiting to hear about interviews I offer you a fine little tune by one of my favorite Southern Rock bands playing today.

Those rare times when the covers are better than the originals. Two examples. oh my gosh, you are right. i did not think it was possible to outdo the SG version of sounds of silence. But this version, other than when the guy is screaming, is incredible. Thanks for post! outdoing Britney Spears is much easier!!!

PMJ is all covers, and you can get carried away with their selections. In picking only one, this is my fave. Dude really sounds like Jackie Wilson.

PMJ is all covers, and you can get carried away with their selections. In picking only one, this is my fave. Dude really sounds like Jackie Wilson. But he isn't Jackie Wilson. I don't have time to go into it tonight, but Jackie was buried in an unmarked grave in Westlake Cemetery in Wayne, Michigan. When this became known, a headstone drive was undertaken, and we were able to purchase a nice headstone for his grave. It was unmarked no longer. Somewhere I have a photo of that marker. We had the money by January, something like five or six years after his death, but we had to wait until, I think, May to install the headstone because of the frozen ground. One of my favorite fund raising activities. I still smile when I think of that. Along with the headstone, he was reinterred from a numbered grave to be next to his mother at Westlake. A happy day for all of us. EDIT NOTE: And I should have noted in my original post that engraved on the bottom of the marble marker is ″No More Lonely Teardrops.″ RIP, Mr. Excitement. Pixie

Happy 70th to Billy Joel.
I could have gone for the obvious with Piano Man, but I was feeling this one today.
