Maybe it’s a well kept secret or maybe it simply hasn’t been decided when we will return to our offices and hearing rooms. I haven’t even stumbled on any halfway decent rumors. Does anyone have any scuttlebutt on this? I suppose the COVID delta variant spike is a player now. Ideas anyone?

Absolutely no clue. I guess it depends on the unions and COVID

Every prediction I have ever made about COVID has pretty much been wrong, so I'm kind of done.
Most recently, I would've never guessed so many people would remain unvaccinated at this point, and I don't know how that impacts our return.

My understanding is that we will start with only one Hearing room and one judge per day. Judges will have to release any of their in person Hearings that day to whichever judge is in person.

A man wears the COVID face of a priest of the Temple of Black and White at OHO,. A man thinks the return to the office will not happen until the many shadows of COVID can fully be given mercy. So, a man says.

I heard similarly with the additional caveat that it would only be the HOCALJ that was allowed to return first.

That sounds like a horrible and inefficient idea, so of course I fully expect that you are correct and that this is the path we’ll take. I don’t feel any particular ownership over cases I haven’t reviewed, but reps are going to throw enormous fits about it. I wonder if they’ll second guess not taking the phone hearing or OVH with the 50% favorable judge when the case is reassigned for an in-person hearing with the 25-percenter.

Ah yes, having two judges review a single case rather than just scheduling the live cases for that day with the judge they are assigned to. The model of efficiency.

Have you heard when this is to begin? No definite date. Rather just a vague timeline, as with all things COVID, of late fall or early winter. But, when that was said, it was prior to the Delta variant taking over.

Big bucks for a rodent, maybe, but not for a regular judge. It is only a one step increase, unless one has already reached the top step, then it is nothing. Pixie

Money, schmoney. A HOCALJ is NOT hoi polloi. No Sir, not by a long shot. Me? I’m retiring. Like, verrrrrry soon. Verrrrrrrrrrrrrrry. I was never HOCALJ material. I’m more chopped liver. A plodder. Unimaginative. Slow, even for a rodent. Everyone be well! Respectfully, Hamster

Pixie Incidentally, I’m questioning your punctuation above: “, then it is nothing.” O Great Grammarian, is that proper employment of the comma? Respectfully, Hamster

Conjunction junction, what’s your function? Hooking up words and phrases and clauses. Sorry…couldn’t resist.

Have you heard when this is to begin? NO! He hasn't as this is 100% pulled out of no where. This will never happen! We will return to the office for all hearings just as soon as the Union and TPTB agree and it will not involve some weird sh*t like ALJs releasing "in person" hearings on the day of hearings to one Judge being in the office!
