When should the interviews commence? At some point after most people on here think they should. They really do have a lot of applications to weed through and then get interviewers lined up. I am hearing from reliable sources that interviews will be by video which is a definite improvement. Shortly before emails or calls go out someone will probably post here that they are setting up interviewers. not to mention the possibility of some unforeseen extra step |

In a word no. Thank you for explaining the reference so well. SSA won't be impressed, no... but thanks to both of you for bringing back vivid memories of a great performance of Othello I saw several years ago. I've never seen or read Othello. Am I out of the running for being an ignorant rube? |

As an aside....I would like to do a little bragging.....when I started this venture into insanity several, several years ago, I also started a PhD program and low and behold....I should be finishing this Summer with my dissertation....so, this black robe may elude me but I'll be getting another one soon and it comes with a spiffy hat and cape...... as one of my main union client heads once told me......"You gots to claim victory when you can....."  Brag away. Big serious congratulations on your accomplishment. Thank you!! Sorry for just now replying...been working on the dissertation.....thanks again! |

You know, I'm not sure whether referrals will go out for this. Referral is the step when OPM refers your application to the hiring agency, right? If OPM is not involved in screening applications (e.g., to apply the 7 years' experience requirement), then there might not be any OPM referrals. SSA would already have the applications. They would throw some in the wastebasket and some in the 'to be interviewed' pile, and I wouldn't expect any notifications unless SSA needs me to complete a form or something like that. Now if OPM is doing the initial screening, then I would anticipate referral emails, but I almost think this step would have been completed by now. This is based on a sample of one: OPM's performance in the most recent round of IJ hiring (8 days I think between closing and referral for a similar or larger pool of applicants).
Full disclosure that I may be way off base!

Full disclosure that I may be way off base! Every internal position I’ve applied for at SSA at the minimum sends a “referral” email. It basically lets you know that you’re qualified and submitted everything asked. This is also when people did not submit everything or are not qualified get a “not referred” email. I find it unlikely SSA will skip the referral email step with 1,000(+) applications. My best guess - they’re still wading through them and everyone will get a “referred to hiring official” or “not referred” notice within a day of each other (if not the same day). |
