Where are people applying to be an SSA ALJ? I check USAJobs every now and then never see openings except one or two positions in other agencies.

The last announcement was open in USAJOBS for less than a day in April 2022. Best bet is to follow this Board, and set up an alert with your USAJOBS account. I missed the last time OMHA opened because I snoozed on my Board monitoring. While some posts are open for a set amount of time, others limit to “first XXX number of applicants,” so you have to move quickly.

In my experience you have to wait until a hyena in Africa with three spots on its left side howls at the moon during a lunar eclipse. Or maybe that's when they actually make the calls....

Years from now, if anyone asks me about the worst part of the ALJ hiring process, it won’t be the application, the apprehension, or the ambiguity. It’ll be all of those dadgumm telemarketing calls that I can’t stop answering. You don't necessarily have to answer all the spam calls. When I got the call, the first one went to voicemail, and I had to wait for a return call.

Still good to pick it up on the first try. Pixie

Any relation to long time member Fowlfinder? Pixie I am the wife of Fowlfinder. It's quite an experience to watch all this unfold and wait for "the call" as a spouse. I have learned patience (kind of 😆).

I called security for the bldg and asked them to run her down. They did and we got 'er done. The bereaucracy worked in my favor as I never heard from her (or her principles) again. What I remember most was the adrenaline.

Just that going forward, it would parallel attrition. Who knows how/if the new spending caps will impact things.

The report was through April 28.

There were 1224 duty end of December, so we are down 41 (so far) this year

What accounts for the difference between the # on duty versus the # available?

I admit that I feel slightly silly asking, as if this information was known, it would be shared, but on the off chance... Last round, there were some indicators of "imminence" as to the notification of results prior to the day. Has anyone's father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate heard anything?

My third cousin twice removed confirmed “soon.” Ha, ha. On the positive side, when I “got the call” I was wandering the woods in Northern Maine. Today I am wandering the woods in Canada. Perhaps a good omen for those waiting. I wish you all the best.

Has anyone confirmed that those who interviewed last summer remain in the running? Or is it just our guess that they are still under consideration, based on past practice with the registry?
