First attempt at a crowd sourced swag on odar cert cities. As noted, i started with my very wild guess "Funky's official WAG on cert cities." I requested folks post or pm me any intel they had about cities that definitely wont have a vacancy and should be removed and cities that have vacancies and could be on the list that should make this list. Here is the result so far, keep the info coming: R1: None R2: Buffalo, South Jersey and PR (counted as 1 city for my purposes) R3: Charleston WV, Huntington WV, Johnstown PA and Seven Fields PA R4: Florence AL, Greenville SC, Hattiesburg MS, Jackson MS, Paducah KY, Lexington KY, Louisville KY, Macon Ga, Memphis, Middlesboro KY, Tupelo MS, Montgomey AL, Tampa And Covington GA R5: Akron, Dayton, Detroit, Flint, Livonia, Mt Pleasant, Peoria, Toledo, Valpraiso, Fort Wayne and Evansville R6: Alexandria LA, Houston North, Metarie, Shreveport, New Orleans R7: Creve Coeur, Springfield MO and Witchita R8: Fargo, Rapid City and Sioux Falls R9: Fresno and Phoenix R10: None Each city that's been removed was done so due to reports from you guys except for 1, Atlanta North. I removed it after hearing the other day that they plan to move it from its current location soon. I'd assume they won't hire for there till they know what space they have at the new location. So, most likley a second cert city. the only additions have been Witchita (due to discussion in another thread, Tampa and Phoenix (both due to highly credible reports that they have worked the transfer list and still have multiple vacancies at each. The current total is 45 cities. Funky, I'm holding you to this list! Lol! I hope you're right.

We can call it "Funky's ALJ Discussion Forum Board's Likely Top 45 Cities for a Cert"...... Wait, wait, wait. I don't want all the bla...er...credit. It started out as my own guess, including some utter silliness. Now, though, its morphed into a crowdsourced, intel driven SWAG. Keep the info coming (pm is fine if you don't want to reveal who gave what tidbit). We can see how close we get to the actual cert.

Spoiler alert, in case you'd want to read the books -- they turned him at the last possible moment before he would die (chubby Vegas version) and he's sort of messed up. He goes by "Bubba." He doesn't like that other name, but he still sings sometimes. Miss, did you read the last book in the series? If so, what did you think? I heard it was really bad so I didn't buy it but I' thinking it couldn't be much worse than following some of these threads. Do you recommend it? Preface: I hate giving opinions on books because it's personal. I was in some stupid pageant/scholarship thing when I was a kid because I was guaranteed some money (I had the best grades). In the interview they asked me what my fav book was. Easy, "Gone With the Wind." A-hole judges didn't know it was a book! Shouldn't have been judging for a scholarship competition, IMHO! Anyway, I'm a sucker for fantasy books (especially after dealing with harsh reality all day). I always have to read the entire series, unless it gets horribly repetitive and predictable. Even then I'm likely to come back to finish it up because I feel disloyal otherwise. I understand that the book had loose ends to wrap up, sort of like a series finale on tv. I like that it incorporated some of the short stories (like I said, I have to read everything). All that being said, yeah, I liked it, but I didn't have really strong opinions about what should have happened. Along the same lines, try the Kelley Armstrong's Otherworld series starting with "Bitten." The show on SyFy is based on it (not strictly tho), but the books are far better. Also lots of short stories. Love those for a quick read.

Ok, since posting Wag 2, the first round of crowdsourced edits to my original guess list, this morn, the info has been rolling in.
I will wait a couple days before posting the third version, but here's the info/changes so far:
Removed from the list:
Covington GA, Flint MI and Fresno (been advised that openings in these places have been filled by transfers).
Added to the list:
Knoxville TN, Newark and Grand Rapids (info is each have vacancies not yet filled by tarnsfers.
As previously noted, there are vacancies at the St Louis NHC and a new report that there are some at the Chicago NHC.
So, at this point the list still has 45 hearing offices (counting PR as one locale) and now 2 NHCs.
Also, additional confirmation has come in on Creve Coeur and Middlesboro.
Insiders, reps or anybody that knows, please tell us if you know a city has a vacancy or know one on the list won't have one. Its all just an academic exercise, but it will be an interesting test of the combined knowledge of the board to see how close we get. If you'd prefer to not risk your anonymity, send it to me in a pm. I won't disclose who told me any info if you don't want it known. Otherwise, just post it to this thread. I will rework the list every few days to add and remove based on your reports.

Funky -- Do you actually have a job? Lol, yep. Fully employed. And my borderline ocd shows up there too. What I haven't had much of since March 2013 is hobbies. The wife tells me my hobby is being an alj candidate. Also, anotherfed had it pretty close to right, I'm a near lifelong insomniac. Couple some ocd and insomnia with smartphone technology that lets me always have a logged in presence on the board in my pocket....well, its a recipe for a real funked up addiction. EDIT: in actuality, with the farm, I have 2 jobs. Wouldn't believe how often I post from the seat of a tractor. Also might be surprised to know how many of my posts are thought up and typed in between shovelfuls of actual BS.

Funkster, I could tell you stories of baling hay, manure spreaders and electric fences, but that would require face-to-face and Dos Equis...

So true, my spouse has told me the same thing.

Moopigsmom tells me to "get a life" every time that I am on the Board. Those not individually involved have a hard time understanding the process and anxiety.

Mrs. Midnight is the opposite - she routinely asks, "What's happening on the forum?"

Mrs. Midnight is the opposite - she routinely asks, "What's happening on the forum?" Ditto. Mine asks if there's been any news on a daily basis.

Mrs. Pubdef thought the bright side of me not making the register was that I wouldn't be obsessively checking this board. Alas, all I can offer is that I don't have anxiety now.

Did the 2 retirements in Chattanooga that were rumored here last Fall happen? Were their positions filled by transfer?
I don't know what you people are talking about I have lots of hobbies. ALJ Forum Polls, ALJ Transfer list spread sheets, ALJ Retirement stalking.....
Mrs. G asks almost every day if anything is happening. She thinks Funky is quite funny.

I've taken to closing down the window when I hear my spouse approaching me when I am in the home office or have my cell phone out just so I avoid the look that says "Again?, Really?" Don't get me wrong, we're both attorneys and I've got great support with the whole process, but I do feel guilty that I don't do my full share of laundry lately...can you blame me? At least the kids and animals don't notice so it couldn't be that bad
