Ok folks, here is generation 3 of our crowdsourced cert cities WAG. Just like gen 2, this one builds on the previous list by removing or adding cities based on reports from folks that they know a place has a vacancy or they know one doesn't. 1: None R2: Buffalo, South Jersey, Newark and PR (counted as 1 city for my purposes) R3: Charleston WV, Huntington WV, Johnstown PA and Seven Fields PA R4: Atlanta North, Greenville SC, Paducah KY, Knoxville, Lexington KY, Louisville KY, Macon Ga, Memphis, Middlesboro KY, Tupelo MS, Montgomey AL, Tampa R5: Akron, Dayton, Detroit, Grand Rapids, Livonia, Mt Pleasant, Peoria, Toledo, Valpraiso, Fort Wayne and Evansville R6: Alexandria LA, Houston North, Houston-Biss., Metarie, Shreveport, New Orleans R7: Creve Coeur, Springfield MO and Witchita R8: Fargo, Rapid City and Sioux Falls R9: Phoenix R10: None NHC: St. Louis and Chicago The total is now 46 cities, which is one more than the info being discussed in the "Huge Cert Rumor" thread suggests the certs will be for. Thank you for the updated list funky. We will know soon if the list is spot on or not. I think we are pretty close with the openings available. Only time will tell. [Edited Additional Statement] IMHO, it seems the likelihood is most of these locations are not greatly coveted spots and probably not on too many Register candidates' limited GALs for coveted spots. I am sure some with a limited GAL may have one or two of these locations, but not most of them. Those with wide open GALs will likely do much better on a cert with these expected locations for ALJ openings. Hence, it proves the benefit of being a member of this Board and not having to be limited in your GAL locations due to family or personal issues.

funky, I'm trying to figure out whether you were once wronged by a woman in southern Kansas or whether you believe Wichita is a city with a reputation for the supernatural.

Hopefalj, at least funky's version of Witchita (Wichita) didn't start with a "B".

I am sure some with a limited GAL may have one or two of these locations, but not most of them. MPD, you are correct. The "Funky town" poll is showing a large number on this board with fewer than 3 cities in the expected cert group (and an equally large number who are very wide open). As established, that probably extrapolates to a slightly larger percentage in the same situation who are not board members. Thanks again Funky for the updated info. The poll has been edited to include it. Finally, I was incorrect that the cert emails would come out on my birthday, April 12. Another year older, and the world still looks the same--another frame.

Funky, Atlanta North is full and has several on the transfer list... Thanks bart. I have gone back and forth with that one. One source said no because of imminent relocation of the office. Another said yes that the relo was still way off and they would likely have a position not filled by transfers. But, with your report and the waivering info, I think its best to remove it. It won't be on gen 4 of the WAG, if we get that far without the actual cert.

Just received an email announcing a HOCALJ vacancy in Honolulu. I beleive there's only one ALJ serving Hawaii ( ?), so it'll be intersting to see if they select the next person on the transfer list or someone from management (unless the next person on the list is in management).

Well yes, that's what I've always assumed; weird though that one of the ALJs has only dispositions from Honolulu, one has about 1/2 from Honolulu and 1/2 from San Francisco (which kind of makes sense) and one has somewhere around 166 from Honolulu and 7 from San Francisco. I don't really know what that means; I just don't have anything else to think about today, so I'm fixating on it.

I just got some information that a significant number of the new hires will be goings to NHCs. So check your GALs for the NHC locations...

Was "Falls Church, VA" a choice in filling out the GAL? In other words, I don't suppose I'm covered for Falls Church by selecting Washington DC?

I read this post in conjunction with the NHC post. I thought the National Hearing Centers were a separate choice from there city (i.e., Chicago and National Hearing Center Chicago were different on the GAL list) I about had a heart attack when I just went back and looked at my application and did not see National Hearing Center Chicago. However, they are not listed separately. Thank goodness.
