Not sure where to put this, so am putting it here. Late yesterday I received an email confirmation of the telephone call I posted about (interview after holidays for my one city cert, or is it one cert city?? not sure haha). Today received a call from a reference/supervisor-type (I think I listed him as a "supervisor" because we had an office sharing arrangement while I was self-employed) and he was called THIS MORNING. I have NOT interviewed yet. I had almost emailed all my references to say "stand down" until after the holidays and am SO glad I didn't! I am so glad things continue to move forward for you too, ok1956.

I also just got notification from one of my references that she was contacted today. I know many references were checked before people had their interviews, but does anyone recall their references being checked before you even got the call to set up the interview? I'm still waiting on the call (or even an email saying that it is forthcoming.) Still, I feel much better than I did a week ago!

I think there are several of you in this same boat, and have not received the interview email / call yet.

I believe the reference check process runs independently of interview scheduling. As far as I know the interviewers do not know anything about you other than what is in your resume (if that). The references are for the hiring committee's consideration.

As I recall, I was phoned as a reference before a former colleague had an interview several years ago. This individual is now an ALJ. Good luck!

So i bet we are in the same boat! :-)

Positive thoughts of the day: it is day 4 of the hiring committee meeting and we are one day closer to offers. Don't know if Bob is in the office;).

My heart leapt yesterday when I saw Washington DC on my caller ID, but it was just an Avvo sales rep...

Sratty, please let us know when Bob takes his bathroom break, so we can also take one. Getting a little uncomfortable, here.

My heart leapt yesterday when I saw Washington DC on my caller ID, but it was just an Avvo sales rep... Who was the board member who was planning on answering all calls from the 703 with "Yes, Bob, where do you want to send me?". I would love to hear some unwary and confused Avvo sales rep have to deal with that greeting. Years ago I had to send an angry e-mail to Avvo because they'd confused me with some similarly-named attorney in another state (we'll call him Bloopstok) and attributed some of Mr. Bloopstok's negative ratings to myself. The Avvo employee who replied to my e-mail was gutsy enough to include a sales pitch in their e-mail back -- something to the effect of "THIS is why you need to register a paid account with us." Um, where was I going with this? Oh, yes. Bob. Call me!

I'm still reeling from Forum obtained knowledge of the F5 Refresh function !
I thought I was a reasonably credible candidate for this job but now my confidence has been sorely shaken !

As we wait for offers to start, do we think they'll come by phone or email?

I think this is true for almost all of them. In the 1st cert there were some reports of email offers. Without any knowledge at all I can imagine those as offers being made to people at the end of the day with the hope that the offeree will respond overnight so they can begin the next day with the next offeree. Perhaps if you are overseas or in an otherwise "difficult" time zone for an offer from EST? I believe the vast majority will be phone though.
