This will now be my 3rd background investigation in 4 years. It's a good thing there are no skeletons in your closet. LOL!

I will mention that I was one of the late add-ons to the cert. My references were checked after many already posted. So...keepin' hope alive.... maybe it's just timing.

The whole credit check/reference checking/being interviewed by an investigator process is a bit random. Take a deep breath and relax. Remember that a hiring Agency will cut you loose only if you don't meet minimum standards. If I knew what they were I'd tell you. However, if you have a disciplinary adjudication or a felony in your closet then I'd be concerned. A short sale or credit issues related to a divorce, then I'd let the worry lines go.

Again - I can't imagine getting through a TS/SCI and not passing this one - particularly as OPM contracts all of the investigations now. I've never undergone a lifestyle polygraph, but I can't imagine ALJ requiring that level either. That would be the next level up from the DoD investigation I have now.

But after this process, I wouldn't be surprised if SSA wanted to give us psych evals to make sure we haven't gone off the deep end.

Especially as some of the structures might not have been "up to code" to begin with...

Being an ALJ requires mental toughness. After 25+ years of litigating in front of them I'd have never believed it, but its true--I thought ALJs were a bit ensconsed in an ivory tower (I was wrong). You have to be sure of yourself without an overweaning ego, able to make a life altering decision(s) day after day without checking the rear view mirror and still be able to walk a few miles metaphysically in the old worn out shoes appearing before you. It helps immeasurably to have a team spirit and to love what you do as that is infectious. You have to work hard and be true to the ideals you had in law school--because you are no longer practising law so that old paradigm doesn't work. As I have posted before its like stepping through the Looking Glass. So yeah, you have been through the OPM Gauntlet. Ain't it grand?

We ACTUALLY moved through the hurdles for the hiring of an amazing government job. We didn't just apply to the posting on USAJobs and our application enter a black hole (for most of us anyway) (I have plenty of those applications that, I think are lost in the cloud - or stuck in a hiring freeze!). And starting next week, those of us who interviewed on this cert will start to hear. And if we don't make it, we'll get a letter saying so. That, PA, is amazing. And for those of us vets, it ain't nothing compared to serving in uniform. So don't let the blond-formerly-pink hair fool you -- I'm tough and well qualified. Bob, when you callin'?
