That was a nice break. Now, back to business.
So allegedly there are going to be two classes. When Bob calls, I'm assuming if all the offers come out for this cert, he'll assign a class -- first (Aug-) or second (Sept-) (-ish). Any idea if, for example, someone needs a bit more time, e.g., needs to wrap up a practice, they might successfully ask for the second rather than the first?

....and here it is. Welcome to July, folks the month it might just happen... Yep. 16 months of applying for the same job. We finally reach a month where for some it will end. For better or worse. For others, more waiting for a second or later cert. For still others its more waiting for appeal decisions and hoping for an opportunity to wait some more. What a long and winding road. Good luck everybody. Not sure if I'm posting this video correctly. It's from the end of the "Shawshank Redemption". If hired soon, I feel like Morgan Freeman riding the bus towards Mexico:
"I find I'm so excited I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I think it's the excitement only a free man can feel. A free man at the start of a long journey who's future is uncertain".
Below is the URL if the video doesn't load properly. Except for the "free man" part, it's pretty accurate.

First sign of a mental impairment is quoting ine's self on a message board. I thought it was avatar choice, hopefalj. Well, isn't that a bit self-incriminating as you clearly suffer from multiple personality disorder given your numerous avatars?

I guess I'm the only one who'd admit to having read the Board (sorry, mis, I love your humor but I just had to say that...) but this subject has been well aired by those of us who worried about wrapping up a law practice--the Spring and Summer of '09 was when it was a hot topic for me--but it came up in '08 too. The answer is yes, they will give you a month to maybe six weeks, but since they have no clue what that all means other than its some hypothetical hurdle, you will not get much sympathy. But of course, you must ask and do all that which your Bar tells you you must do and there are examples in Advisory Opinions. Break a leg, mis.

Thanks, privateatty. I had read those posts but wasn't exactly sure how it would work with the two classes. And if offers for the two classes will actually go out at the same time. I guess because the process has been different this time, I wondered if the old intel was still good.

And as to whether or not the intel is still good, Bob and the folks in the Puzzle Palace do get the fact that you can't violate a DR to take the job. I worked like a boot and stressed like a Rhesus on a live wire for thirty days but I got 'er done. I think if you told them that you were in Court today and while you do have at least two choices of alternate counsel to give to your clients, some need handholding. Good luck.

No worries. I should have asked more clearly. Yes, the timing is tough. Can't just wait around, start shutting down and not take more work in case I don't get it. But then if i do, it is more to tidy up. Thanks again!

I believe (and I could very well be wrong) that they've put forth some effort to place federal attorneys in the first group and private practice attorneys in the second group in years past. If I am ring, blame my previous avatar (which happened to come from the same character).

Us Feds have it easier on that issue!

Lol. Thanks. Yes, I remember reading that current government employees usually go first. I remember that the spots where there is the most need get filled early too. But not sure how those two things will work together since we gave preferences for locations. Time will tell. It would be weird to get the call for the second class, work like crazy (again with the crazy?), and get things wrapped up early. No work, not starting yet, is that what a vacation is?

Seems like if the intel is correct that they have to move down the certs and wait for yea/nay, they'll need to start at the top of the scores and work down the lists, unless my logic is incorrect, so they may not be filling the spots in the order(s) as in the past - thoughts? I guess we'll know when offers start rolling ...

Waiting for one from "Deathproof."

Of course, if I ever get an offer, I might change it to Russell's role as Herb Brooks in Miracle.
