I suspect no one will be contacted for interviews until all of the cities reflect "complete" for all applicants. I haven't seen any movement on any of my cities this week. Although each city will be considered separately, I'm sure that people who applied for multiple cities may be considered for more than one city and may be asked about their preferences at some point (if they get an interview). That is why I don't think they will start any interviews until they have information about who the top applicants are for each city. I do not believe that OPM personnel have any role in the IJ hiring process. Although the applications are submitted thru USAJobs, it is the EOIR HR people who are processing the applications, and it will be members of an OCIJ hiring committee who decide who will be the top candidates to be interviewed and who will receive offers after those interviews. Then downtown DOJ officials (probably the Deputy AG) will likely have to approve any hires before the offers are extended. Hence, the 10-11 month timeframe for IJ hiring back in 2009-10. If we don't hear soon, I don't see them having time to do the interviews (possibly 120-150 people??) during Nov-Dec with the holidays. So, it is looking more like they probably wouldn't start interviews until January. I still think everyone will hear about a second SSA cert before there is any movement on the IJ front. Sorry, Cheesy, Gary, and Gaiden ... don't think anyone will be getting out of your way for the second cert through this process.

Don't anybody give up on their long cherished dream of being an Immigration Judge! Just suspend from the register until they interview, deliberate on, and hire the Immigration Judges. You can unsuspend if you have to in a couple of years. As Joseph Campbell used to say: Follow Your Bliss!

Just for the record, because Saturdays are slow on the board, and I am about to take a long bike ride as Bikingnut does, I have 15 cities to which I have applied, I have three left pending HR specialist, just sharing on a slow day on the boards, good luck to all. Good morning, and in case I dont see ya, good afternoon, good evening, and good night

Just distracting myself with indoor frivolity today and pondering buying a CycleOps trainer to use in the off-season.

Should have sprung for a more expensive one. It was really loud and interfered with my plans of pedaling while watching my beloved tv. Maybe they have improved since long ago, but IMHO still better than most spinning classes!

I don't understand why someone would take an SSA job in some horribly cold and dreary place like Mount Pleasant, Buffalo, Charlestown, or especially arctic-chilly Richmond, when they could be living the good life as an IJ in such sunny, warm, and wonderful locales as San Diego, Tucson, San Diego, El Paso, and San Diego. I just don't get it.

My experience with the magnetic trainers is that they are very quiet. But my understanding is that the wind trainers are pretty loud. Also if you have a road bike versus a mountain or hybrid, that will reduce the noise a bit on the rear roller because the tire is smooth.
