You'll want to slap a label on yourself: "Do not bend, fold, spindle, or mutilate." Now now, don't knock a good spindlin' till you've tried it. Can I go on disability due to being permanently spindled?

Funky and Bikingnut, I am more scared of being stapled, if I hand delivered myself to the dept.

Just out of curiosity, what is the exact link? I used to have this problem when looking for the Social Security ALJ link from OPM as well.

The New Orleans and Salt Lake City hires were from prior postings. I have not heard of any action on any of the current postings.

I am not just guessing. These are hires that were held up during the DOJ hiring freeze. My best guess is that it will take 9 mos to a year for hiring on the current postings. If everything goes well on the Congressional budget issues, my best guess is that they might start interviewing on the current postings sometime in January or February (that's a big "if", and that is pure speculation on my part).

Thanks for the info. I looked at my previous post and realized it was a bit terse, but I didn't mean it to come across that way! I apologize if I sounded like I was challenging you or if I sounded angry. I didn't mean to.

Does anyone know if there is an increase in funding for the immigration courts in the Omnibus Spending Bill currently being debated by Congress that might allow Justice to start the interview process for new judges? Has anyone received any contact from HR in Justice for these positions? I have heard NOTHING. Any idea on timing?

I think the funding approved in the bill is the amount requested by the DOJ for IJ hiring for FY 2015 (which was for hiring 35 IJ teams), but I haven't heard anything about whether there was an increase (as had been requested to address the surge in border crossing this past summer) beyond that. So, likely no additional funding beyond the initial budget request. Assuming the bill passes, I've expressed my opinion before that they might start the hiring process in January or February. But, who knows? I know a number of people who applied, but none of them has heard a thing.

I am a long-time lurker, but finally registered today.
I recently heard of someone who became an immigration ALJ. I am not certain whether she applied long ago, or under the latest job postings.

Has anyone received any contact from HR in Justice for these positions? I have heard NOTHING. Any idea on timing? The DHS portion of the omnibus bill only has funding until February---many, but not all, of the republicans don't like Obama's executive order on immigration and plan to make it an issue when Congress reconvenes in January---ICE (immigration and customs enforcement) is under DHS--although the immigration judges are under DOJ, there could be a delay in appointments due to the political controversy the immigration issue generates--that's my best WAG.

Any word on interview schedule for immigration judge openings? It appears funding was approved for 34 new immigration positions. A very frustrating process.
