('__'), yes, please elaborate to the extent possible! I too was dismissed at the WD stage but gave up my appeal to re-take. Was your score to low or did it not meet min. requirement? When did you find out you won? Thanks and congrats!! See my earlier response for reason for appeal. On timing, this week. Another poster mentioned getting an email about application status being updated by USAJOBs, so I checked my spam folder and found the same email, along with a second email sent a few days later from OPM saying my appeal had been granted. Glad I checked!

I assume so, but it hasn't arrived yet. The email says " A new Notice of Results (NOR) will be sent to you in a separate email reflecting your rating change."

Thanks for the info. Congratulations. I'm also waiting for an answer to my appeal of WD fail.

APPEAL GRANTED! Lurking for two years now with not much to share. But thought others might like to know my appeal from the last round (WD score too low) was granted. Congratulations!

This is cause for celebration! Let us know when you get your new NOR. If you don't mind sharing your GAL number of cities and the general number of your NOR, it would be great to see where you will be fitting in on the register!

This may be getting to much off the initial thread topic but I felt the need to provide the information for what its worth because so many have shared so much here.
In an earlier post on this thread, I stated that I too missed the cut by not getting the min. score on the WD. I am a 10 pt. vet and decided to re-take the exam. In doing so, OPM informed me that it was one or the other, i.e., if I chose re-take I would have to give up my appeal, etc.. I took the DC portion again recently in mid-late May and am awaiting my results. There were three of us testing. I, like many others who post here, have been in this game a while. I am a former ODAR writer and am currently an admin judge for another agency. I guess I would be classified as a quasi-insider. Just FYI.
Good luck to everyone and congrats to all those who have already accepted!

It's here. 75-80, so right in the middle of the pack. 20 cities (although doesn't it matter which cities rather than number? these could be the most popular cities or the least popular)

See poll showing scores for June class: aljdiscussion.proboards.com/thread/3395/june-2015-odar-hire-pollYes it matters more which cities than raw number of cities.

Appeal granted for reasons entirely unrelated to the actual basis for my appeal. It was essentially OPM saying, "my bad!" almost two years after the exam. But, as of a couple of days ago, I have a NOR and (presumably) am on the registry. (Yay!)
Any advice? I'm NOT an "insider" in any way, shape, or form! Not knowing any better, my GAL was limited to places up and down the West Coast. Given that, and that my eligibility will last only through the end of 2015, should I just re-apply? There can't be that many certs to issue for the rest of the year, can there?
Also, anything I should be doing to prepare just in case I get on a cert and/or get the call? Or should I just ignore the process and hope for the best?

Youngblood, can you share the details please? Was this the minimum score issue on the WD? Thanks.

Or should I just ignore the process and hope for the best? Congratulations! They won't be terminating this register at the end of 2015. The register will continue until OPM replaces it with a new one and they haven't taken the steps necessary to replace it. Historically OPM has extended the date you are referring to as needed. OPM will let you know if and when we all need to reapply. The next step is more waiting--this time hoping your GAL and score land you on some certs. You will know if you are on any certs when SSA contacts you. You will get a few forms to fill out at that time. You will be asked, inter alia, for 15 years of employment history including supervisors (whom they will contact). You will be asked for 9 separate references (you cannot duplicate with any of the listed supervisors): 3 judicial (ALJs can be used here); 3 adversary (substitutions allowed if you haven't adversaries to list); and 3 professional. You will likely have a week to 10 days to return the forms, so you might want to line up your supervisors and references ahead of time so you're ready to go when the time comes. The other thing is to keep watching this space. You may find out on this Board about certs, etc., before you receive an email, so you will know to be on alert to watch your spam folder lest you miss anything important. Good luck!

Congratulations! Better late than never.
I can't move from the NYC metro area, so my GAL list was limited. I was just appointed to one of the 6 offices on my list. Though I am not as knowledgeable as others on this board, it seems to me that there have not been as many appointments on the West Coast. There should be more to come, so don't worry.
My first week at work was a blur but I am so glad I made this career choice. My office is really terrific, the people are wonderful, the work will be great when I start doing it. You have something to look forward to.

The first class from this register started August 2014. Since that time, there have been hires in at least Pasadena, Sacramento, Fresno, LA, Portland, and Eugene. There were likely more West Coast cities since I'm going from memory here.

There were likely more West Coast cities since I'm going from memory here. I think over the course of the next FY we will see certs for almost all the cities open up except for the most desired of the desirable transfer destinations. It's no longer a matter of just waiting for ALJ's to retire for space to come open. Now there are openings when writers and to some degree Group Supervisors retire (or otherwise leave). I think there will be another West Coast hire for that reason.

('_') that is awesome news! Do you mind sharing the basis for your appeal? Only if it doesn't somehow violate the confidentiality clause, of course. Thx. I don't remember what I said exactly in my appeal, but it was short and simple, and asked them to review what I did because I thought they might be making a mistake. And that appears to be exactly what they did. They said: "The 2013 ALJ appeals process was extensive. As part of the process, OPM ensured that different raters reviewed various parts of the exam than those who initially rated them. The Panel reviewed your original score on your Written Demonstration (WD) and then based on a re-assessment, determined that you did, in fact, meet the required minimum score for the WD." [@aljd - if you think the info above violates the confidentiality agreement for the WD, please delete. I don't think it does, but can't be too careful] The takeaway for me is another Judge or examiner looked at your WD. The strong Board rumor of many years was that the exam was graded by retired ALJs. I have no inside knowledge on this (I wish I did but I can understand secrecy from the position of being a Judge as I would not want to get dragged into some FOIA request disclosure or worse, a litigation mess). Nonetheless, one grader's D is another's B. Hardly surprising to anyone who went to law school. And of course you had to have checked your spam folder. One wonders how many Judges got their jobs because the one in front of them didn't. Congratulations and I hope you wow them in DC and at the Puzzle Palace or whatever hallway of whatever Agency.

I think we could use a poll (cough Gaidin cough) re: NOR scores for folks who have had their DC-phase appeals granted...

So far, we only know of one who had the WD rescored. Youngblood, congrats, and was that your situation as well? I am hoping that we will have many more responses on Monday and Tuesday. I'll be checking email and spam every 10 minutes, for sure! After we get a number of responses, a poll would be interesting.

I think we could use a poll (cough Gaidin cough) re: NOR scores for folks who have had their DC-phase appeals granted... My last poll for two people barely got 2 votes. I would be delighted to put together another poll but we're going to need more people saying they have scores to make it a useful exercise. Congrats to you folks who are getting NORs. Very exciting times ahead.
