Congratulations, yellowrose! Are those of you interviewing insiders or outsiders? I am an outsider.

I received a call to schedule an interview today without having received an email. Months ago I turned down an interview because my circumstances have changed since completing the application way back when, and I no longer wanted to move to the particular city for the position; so that city dropped off. I have 2 cities in play that are in my current metro area.

february, call Bob or Mellinda. Because of your unusual circumstances, why don't you see if they will let you do a telephone interview? You may not be able to get to FC for an interview, but I'm sure you can wake up early for a phone call ... Maybe you can even find videoconference facilities and interview that way. Don't tell 'em why you can't do it, tell 'em how you can!

Long time lurker - first time posting.
I got the call also today, missed it and also got an email to call back within 24 hours. Very small cert - will refrain from naming the state. I do have questions regarding the references. I have been trying to find the parameters of what they require. Namely the criteria for 3 types - Judicial, Adversarial and professional. Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

But, if you are asking for significant guidance from this forum, please provide the information you have in regard to the state and cities. You can do this anonymously or confidentially though a poster you trust.

Definitely read those questions in the thread ba referenced above, and choose people that will have no trouble answering well for you.
Also it IS common courtesy to contact your references before you put their names down. I actually gave mine the list of questions when I contacted them and asked if they would be comfortable vouching for me along those lines.
Please be aware that they WILL be contacted - and probably all of them. Many of my references reported being called within 2 weeks of my submitting them.
Oh, and BTW - I got the email before I got the call to schedule the interview. The email came out on Monday and I had to return all of the info, including references and their contact info by COB that Friday. Not a lot of time to contact busy folks, especially during summer vacation time. For those of you that know you'll be interviewed but haven't gotten the email yet, you actually can use this time to your advantage - you're essentially being given a few days' heads up, so work on that reference list!

Any guidance is greatly appreciated. Judicial can include ALJs . Also, they can include judges you know well and who are comfortable answering the questions, but you haven't appeared in front of them. If you don't have enough adversarial, you can use attorneys who have not been adversaries. In the professional category, use any attorney who knows your work and you well. You can use firmer supervisors who are from far enough back in time that they don't appear in the work history part of the form. (You can't name the same person in two places)

I am also a current fed, yellowrose. Sounds like we are very much alike in this process.

I apologize but I do want to maintain some anonymity here on the board. I will participate in a city survey, though, if one is posted.

People on the Board have various comfort levels with disclosure. Let's honor that.

Nobody has to disclose any information about their status or their GAL, if they do not wish to do so. However, many on this Board would be appreciative if you did. As to anonymity unless a bunch of Board members know your Board name or avatar it is likely nobody will know who you are at all. We are just one big community of candidates (or ALJs) who try to dispense useful information about the ALJ hiring process. Welcome aboard newbies and long time lurkers.

Don't tell 'em why you can't do it, tell 'em how you can! I did talk to Bob yesterday, and he said this actually isn't that unusual--they have people who can't make it to the interviews all the time. They don't offer any special accommodations, you just have to wait and hope that you're on a future cert and can make it to FC to interview that time around. I am going to keep checking in the Alicia, though, on the off chance that they get so many people who can't make it that they decide to schedule more interview slots later in August. Stranger things have happened throughout this process.

This from an anonymous candidate:
GAL is MO, interviewing 7/29, outsider, non-vet, and a NOR in the middle of the bell curve.
Congratulations and good luck!

Got a chuckle from me. That was just a general comment ul, not directed at your comment or anything in specific. Sorry if it came across that way. Zep and MPD are correct - lots of people on the Board would appreciate the info. I am probably one of the few who figure this will all come out in a few days or weeks and think it probably makes more sense to wait than try to reconstruct "the list" from random Board posts. I think our lurkers are well aware of info laundering through another Board member. I figure if they want to do that they will, but I personally don't want anyone to feel pressured to do something outside their comfort zone. That's just me.
