With the above time line estimates projected any thoughts on when OPM may be contacting those whose scores were below the cutoff at Stage 2 previously, who now may be invited to DC for testing? Because by the time OPM finishes testing and grading, the register will need, or be close to needing, replenishing to handle anticipated hiring in FY 2016 & 2017, I think they'll be moving forward as promptly as they can. It will feel excruciatingly slow to those involved.

The two aren't really connected. OPM sends out certs but I don't think the timing of certs affects testing. If I had to guess I would say sometime in the next two weeks but that is based upon how long ours took and may not reflect current practice.

Thanks for your thoughts. It is amazing - there are so many moving parts to this process.

Thanks for your thoughts. It is amazing - there are so many moving parts to this process. And sometimes non-moving parts that periodically spring to life.

Yes it does mean that ODAR is interviewing a lot of folks, 50 - 60 sounds about right (thanks mpd!) Then let's add in the rest of you folks who interviewed over the past year and are still waiting to be hired. That's approximately 100+. So ODAR will have approximately 150-160, give or take, to choose from for approximately 75 slots. If this wag is even remotely close, these are awesome odds of getting hired! Sratty seemed to indicate that the next hiring date may not be September 8, but 'late' September. This would make sense, as calls to make offers probably won't happen until late August. BTW, Does anyone else has access to the training calendar? Is there a new ALJ training in late September? Have they posted FY16 training dates yet? Sealaw90, if the interviews go over two weeks, let's double my figures and say between 96 and 128 candidates interviewing total. Those candidates along with the 125 or so left from previous interviews, gives SSA about 225 to 275 people to choose from in order to hire 70 to 80 slots. It would give you a 1 in 4 to 1 in 5 chance (approximately) if our numbers are correct. However, I am a little perplexed by the numbers interviewing this time as I cannot put a definitive number on it. I do not know how many days SSA is interviewing in the second week. Therefore, there is a wide latitude in trying to interpret numbers here. Holy smokes, I spend way too much time on this Board for a position I am not likely to ever receive. I must be a glutton for punishment. LOL!

If all candidates were available for all certed locations, and if no candidate had been considered previously, 125 candidates would be reachable. With many candidates having tiny GALs, and with many candidates already having 1, 2, or 3 considerations, SSA will have a lot more than that from which to make selections. I would guess more than the 150-60 suggested. Killjoy. Just want happy thoughts and good folks to get hired in droves, as long as that includes me!

I like to focus on what Pixie and some others have stated. In sum, "Scores don't necessarily matter and the SSA interview is ALL important. If they like and want you they will find a way to hire you." I hope they like and want me and that it is true.

february, call Bob or Mellinda. Because of your unusual circumstances, why don't you see if they will let you do a telephone interview? You may not be able to get to FC for an interview, but I'm sure you can wake up early for a phone call ... Maybe you can even find videoconference facilities and interview that way. Don't tell 'em why you can't do it, tell 'em how you can! I did talk to Bob yesterday, and he said this actually isn't that unusual--they have people who can't make it to the interviews all the time. They don't offer any special accommodations, you just have to wait and hope that you're on a future cert and can make it to FC to interview that time around. I am going to keep checking in the Alicia, though, on the off chance that they get so many people who can't make it that they decide to schedule more interview slots later in August. Stranger things have happened throughout this process. Good luck to you. Have fun in Japan, but check your email. If you were called up for this round, you will most likely be on the next cert, whenever that comes out. You may need to schedule while you're there! Just in case, I suggest taking the contact info for your references, an updated resume, and anything else you might need to fill out an investigation form. Isn't the Internet grand?

A couple of questions.
1. I got the email confirming my interview along with travel info attached. The travel info said to wait for another email/contact from a travel agency before booking anything. Am I able to book my hotel before receiving further contact?
2. I understand that we will need 9 references and to list all of our previous supervisors. I have some supervisors from years ago that I have lost contact with and no longer work where I worked for them. Do I need to track these people down in order to provide their contact information?
Thanks!

Good to know that I can just go ahead with the hotel. AS to the references, I have all of their info. Don't we also have to list all of our prior supervisors? Do we have to list their contact info?

They figured out which hotel that had vacancies made the most sense and booked it for me. I did have to pay for the hotel and got reimbursed for it later.

Once you get an offer, you will have to provide more info for the extensive background investigation and give all your supervisor info for 7 years in addition to neighbor contact info for every place you have lived in 7 years. This is separate from the reference list they require for the cert/interview email you receive. Give them what they ask for and be specific...make sure you contact EACH person you list to make sure the info is correct (phone # etc) and make sure they know they will be getting the call. Research this board and find the list of questions asked of each reference, they have not changed questions in years. They use a contractor to do these reference calls so these callers know NOTHING about you or your job. They simply ask questions on the list and record the answers. Good luck!

Under your work history, you list all your jobs for the last 15 years. (Be glad, it used to be ever since you passed the bar). Yes, you give their contact info. You will have the option whether or not you want them to contact your current supervisor.
