I got the following PM last evening from an anonymous source.
"full room of 32 people tested today. Quick estimate was about 75% government, 25% outside. At least half the room was SSA. To a person, the people in this group said they basically signed up midnight the first day the schedule was open. Of course I didn't talk to everyone. At least one previously elected judge and 2 others who were already have judge / adjudicatory positions.
No computer issues to report. The room, if anything, was a bit warm. The only real issue was that we didn't break untill 1:15 and the cafeteria closed at 1:30. This put everyone to the little deli. store and it was a bit of a rush getting food ordered, purchased and eaten in the time allotted. No seizures, deaths, tanrums or other fun stuff to report. Anything else is covered by the infamous CA!!
Water was allowed but needed a lid/top and needed to be on the floor. Safe bathroom rules as others have mentioned.
SI is at Embassy - Georgetown as previously noted."
YMMV

would it be fair to assume that the # of people testing is ~ 30 x 4 days/week x 10 weeks? or am I overestimating?

would it be fair to assume that the # of people testing is ~ 30 x 4 days/week x 10 weeks? or am I overestimating? Maybe, but I don't think by much. That would put it at 1200 testing. My guess is about 1100 or so, which is about the number I believe they tested in 2013.

would it be fair to assume that the # of people testing is ~ 30 x 4 days/week x 10 weeks? or am I overestimating? I think we need a few more days of data to see what the numbers are when it isn't the 1st possible day available. I'm not going to lie if I were scheduling it I would have done it for yesterday as well to get it over with. So I think yesterday may be an anomaly. I would certainly agree that it is the top end number.

I have a feeling that the more popular days will be full house and my guess is that the October dates are the most likely to be to full capacity, but that attendance will drop closer to the holidays & toward December. So my SWAG is that the number will be more in the range of 1000-1100 at most.

I think there will be some variation in attendance for popular and less popular days, but that there will not be an extreme drop off.
OPM will not likely have provided for a lot of empty chairs when the music stopped. OPM could have provided a total of 1200 chairs to be assigned to 1100 self schedulers in the scramble that is their new scheduling system, and there would not be a lot of (if any) sparsely attended dates.

I did think it was interesting that I had a two person panel and was not asked to waive "right" to 3. There were several folks in my time slot and several interview rooms. I think it's likely sig number testing but I'm guessing the 600-800 range. They seem to only be running two tests/interviews a week. At max in the room I think they could manage 40 people. So 80 a week by 10 weeks...(assuming all days filled which I think is highly unlikely).

Congrats to alj2be and auroaborealis for completing this testing phase. It's been a while, but I remember being able to silently eat a snack during the bar exam. Can I really not eat anything from 8am to 1pm? I never go more than three hours without food. I'm eating right now as I type - but quietly.
