Just remember there are some folks with very good NORs who haven't appeared on certs or on only a very few certs. I know you guys know that but it doesn't hurt to internalize it a bit every so often. Keep hope alive and never give up but also be prepared for disappointment. Quite honestly, the LBMT kicked my @## -- seriously - because of this, I for one have absolutely no expectations. I just want the waiting to be over with. I'm not one of those likely to try, try again. So long as you get qualifying scores on the WD and SI, your LBMT, while scored, can't keep you off the register, IIRC.

Oh, trust me, catspaw, you are not alone. My head felt like jello after that test. . Like the LSAT on steroids. Only much much worse. Good news is that a low score on it won't keep you off the register and if my personal experience is any indication it won't keep you from tan ALJ job

Today, I promise to not refresh my email every 5 minutes. I don't need to pick up another bad habit such as becoming OCD over all of this.

I received a PM today that indicated that the plan was to hire four classes of roughly 50 ALJs each with the first starting in June and the last starting before the end of the fiscal in September. That plus the class of folks who just started gets them close to 250 for the year.
ODAR had a similar goal last year and the OPM hack derailed it. Hopefully this year our friends in China will be considerate enough to wait until the start of the next FY so as to avoid delaying our starts.

As someone waiting for the refresh, do you think any of those hires will include folks who just start the process with the refresh? I'm thinking it's unlikely as I've read here that the refresh isn't due until April 1 or so.

I don't want to be categorical, but I can't see any way the new adds for the refresh or any 10-pointers who haven't tested already will make the register this year. It's just raw logistics. If it is anything like last time - approximately 1200 or so will make the cut and get invited to OPM testing in September or October - at the earliest, with projected scores/placement on the register for that subgroup between February and April 2017.
That's just the math of it - probably miss all the remaining ODAR hires this year and the first round of next year, at a minimum. I know that's not what you wanted to hear, Tony, but as they say, "dems the facts."

i agree with above 2 posters. your refresh filing in April will likely mean earliest i could see you getting hired is summer 2017. Maybe spring 2017 but spring is pushing it.
10 pointers might make register this year. i don't know enough about 10 point hiring process to comment one way or another.

Love the intel, but I will eat my proverbial hat if ODAR hires 4 classes in 4 months. I hope it happens but that would literally require ALJ trainers in Falls Church nonstop for 4 months:
Duty station start date (+3 weeks =) Training start date (+4 weeks =) Training end date Jun. 27 Jul. 18 Aug. 12 Jul. 25 Aug. 15 Sept. 9 Aug. 22 Sept. 12 Oct. 7 Sept. 19 Oct. 11 Nov. 4
As always, though, thanks for passing on the intel. And anyway, ambitious and perhaps overly optimistic plans are better than no plans at all!

Excellent example of actual WAG dates that extrapolated from our one "known" date of June 27th. My prediction is that one of the summer hirings will fall off because there will be a refresher training for the folks that were hired last year that will take up room/time in trainer schedules, assuming there would be some overlap in the trainers, but I don't know that for sure.

I think those will be concluded before hand based on what last year's hires have said. I believe this is similar to the schedule they wanted last year but the OPM hack and other factors got in the way. I am skeptical that it will go off the way they want but I believe it is their plan to do it this way.

Hocaljs were solicited this morning for dates of availability for agency interviews in May. Good luck all.
