None of my references have mentioned getting a call.
What about the rest of you? Any more reference calls?

She only kids the one's she loves! rusty, any idea of the originating area code on the reference calls? At least three of my references wanted to be called at their work numbers, so I assume those calls will be answered regardless of the originating number. With people who gave cell phone numbers though, aren't we all reluctant to answer calls from unknown numbers? I saw one of my references yesterday, and he told me he hadn't gotten a call yet.

References must be called if a cert is hit. It isn't discretionary. It is going to happen because it is contracted out. And I am on more than one reference list and haven't been contacted.

I have no indication any of my refs have been called. I assume contractors are working through everyone's lists and my refs will be called in good time

As ba says everyone's references will be called. It may or may not be before your interview but it will happen. This is NOT something to worry about. There is no apparent rhyme or reason to when calls get made. These are contractors who don't work for ODAR and don't know anything about you except they need to make some phone calls and ask some predetermined questions. Now not every reference gets called for everybody. I think the vast majority get called but there have been reports that some did not get called.

rusty, any idea of the originating area code on the reference calls? (505) And each of you may or may not have the exact same contractor employee calling your references so the area code is completely immaterial! Completely. Totally. Not important.
What is good to hear is some eager contractor employee has gone off and started to dig through the pile of references he/she needs to call. Great news. These calls will be forthcoming for the rest of you interviewees for the next 3 -4 weeks so there is no pecking order, no known area code (your references don't really care ).
If you are panicked now about why your references have not been called this very minute, you are NOT in a good frame of mind for your upcoming interview. Don't screw it up by being wrapped around the axle about ministrivia - worry about the Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde reference that tanks you - now THAT's something to worry about!

Sheesh. Is it the name that makes people think I'm panicked, when I'm merely seeking info?

Yes. And part of it appeared to be in jest as well.

Sheesh. Is it the name that makes people think I'm panicked, when I'm merely seeking info? Its not just you. In some ways we are just trying to get ahead of the usual stampede of people obsessing over their reference calls.

I personally think you are right to be worried. In fact, if your references haven't been called by 5 today, you probably have no shot and should just quit.
(Caveat: I have no dog in the hunt and this board has become primarily a source of entertainment for me. Thus, the more drama the better.)

On the other hand, there is no rhyme or reason how these things are done. Don't worry about things you cannot control. Try to distract yourself until they give you something to do. With all due respect to the funkmaster, I have my robe already, but best of luck to all of you.

If you are a careful reader of these pages, you will note that I have been on the worrisome end of most of the process and usually the last in the chain when events occur. I have read all manner of things into the process, heeding and not heeding the advice of those more in the know.
It is odd that I am now close to the forefront of some of my references being called, likely for no apparent reason.
My posting of the Arizona area code, I thought, added to the mystery, wonder and irony of it all.
