You know they contact all those supervisors you listed as well?

Question: one of my judge references just gave me his updated telephone number and email... I think the answer is no, but would it be possible to provide the updated information? I gave his office number so there is a chance he will still get the call but his cell phone would be much better. Thanks for any input. Check your pm's.

I gave his office number so there is a chance he will still get the call but his cell phone would be much better. Thanks for any input. Actually, the answer is a qualified yes. Despite very careful editing and proofreading, I put a wrong number for one of my references (Friend X) on the form. It was for someone else (Friend Y) who I had decided not to use. Friend Y got the call from the contractor asking for Friend X. Friend Y said he would get the correct number, called me and called the contractor back with the right number. If you can have the judge's office ready with the cell number, or ask a different reference to say, "Mr. Contractor: I believe that you are also calling Judge A as a reference for numbersix. I have a more current telephone number for Judge A," you may be able to get this fixed. Good luck.

Holy cow, the one you did use must be willing to bake a cake for the reference checker.

I wonder why Friend Y is willing to go through all that just to avoid giving you a reference.

I wonder why Friend Y is willing to go through all that just to avoid giving you a reference. I should have told Friend Y to just say he was Friend X after all and give the reference.

Does anyone know if employers/former employers are asked the same questions as the references? I still need to touch base with one of my former employers, but wasn't sure if I needed to prepare them with the same questions I saw in the "Dear References" post.

I've been a reference for someone applying for this job. The questions are general in nature.

My current supervisor says that he isn't allowed to respond to requests for references. Irony - his boss insisted that I list him (the bigger cheese) as my reference. I assume that they will not count it as a demerit if one of your listed supervisors says that he is prohibited by policy. Anyone have any experience with this?

I had something similar happen, and I just emailed with the info as "supplemental," knowing that it might be totally ignored. Instead, I got an email acknowledging the updated info.

I've listed several people on here as references. I explained I really did not know anyone other than by avatar and please don't ask about spelling.

I got the call, greendog. But that was before I saw your message. Things didn't go well after I asked, "greendog WHO? " "Sure, greendog can handle 5 to 7 cases per month, easy!"

I was worried that I should not have listed serious as a reference. Thanks SW, a lot.
