Need a little help please: I am working on the experience assessment at home today. I have written everything in the box except need to go get some citations from court records (downtown in Podunk City). I know the instructions said you can save your work but I don't remember how you do it. Afraid to go back to read instructions because my writing might be lost. I can redo it if necessary. If not too late, click on record answer. It will take you to the certification page. DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT click certify as that will finalize your answer. Just close the browser. Then when you come back, it will take you to the certify page. Click on the button at the top to review your answer. That will take you back to your answer for you to edit.

In SSA hearings, which appear to be the focus, there's plenty of conflict -- people are losing their homes, dying of diseases, and claiming extreme mental problems, so, yeah, tensions can run high -- and the huge volume of cases leaves no room for taking forever to control the flow of hearings. Two lawyers going at it have nothing on certain reps going after a VE or an ME, or claimants throwing chairs at the judge. Chair throwing? Hope you ducked!

There is a save button on the screen. It isn't called save but something like"preserve" Don't foget you can copy off the screen, paste it on your word page, so if heaven forfend that didn't work it's there anyay. You may find some court records online so before you charge out...... All the best.

Sometimes the claimant perceives that their testimony is killing their chances of getting disability benefits, and sometimes this angers them. Reps attack their credibility, sometimes very zealously.

Before you close it out (says it will save for you) - since I am paranoid - I would do a block copy into a word document - you can cut and paste into the EA.

As I heard it, the ALJ in question went out on disability.

I just wrote mine in a Word Document then cut and pasted it into the text box when I was done and ready to submit. When I did that the first time, everything disappeared, including the number I had to choose, and I had to go back in and do it again. Luckily it was easy to do because I had everything still in the Word Document.

I had a bit of an experience with the EA. I had blazed through all three parts in one sitting--against my pre-test judgment-- but when I was 3/4ths through the EA the system timed out and dumped what I had written. I overturned tables and broke glassware in a most judicious way, and shut down my browser to take the rest of the night off. I wrote the EA offline the next day, then cut-and-pasted it into the block. It was quite unwieldy, but, then, so is my experience. I had a hard time deciding whether I was level 1 or level 4. Guess which one I settled on... Yeah, obviously.

So, I was just wondering about the level of experience others have. Have many been a lead attorney or trial judge in highly complex contested litigation?

Can we talk about the specifics of the phase 2 test after midnight today? I expect not. This thread will be on here for the next round of applicants some day in the future.

Is there any kind of Confidentiality Agreement in the instructions or to be clicked?

I did purchase that ALJ Writing Guide, 2nd edition and was shocked that the WS advise to log out and work on the essay was wrong. Read the WS instructions and just kept typing on my essay until the last 45 seconds and submitted it. I just followed the EA format in the instructions. Folks OPM has so many applications to review, just make it easy for them. Made it pass phase 1 so hopefully works for phase 2 as well. Good luck everyone. Enjoy the Juky 4th holiday and the rest of the summer. Hope we have good news to share in the Fall. Yeah, how is that we can't anonymously discuss the specifics of the online phase, but this lady can publish a book detailing everything about it?
Also, who publishes a book whose target audience is like 5000-6000 people? I guess you can publish anything anymore, but I don't see how you'll make much money.

If you copy/paste in the EA - ensure you proofread. I had some quotation marks change into letters.

If she self-published and marketed it to all the attorneys who took a bar review class, this would probably encompass way more than 5 - 6,000 folks. People will buy a book thinking "some day I'll read it and maybe apply to be an ALJ'. Most probably never read it or read it and say fuggedaboutit.
There's a 'How To' book for everything now - hmmm, maybe the subject for a new thread while we pass the time between Phase 3 testing in DC and the issuance of new certs for fall SSA hires???

Done, done, and done! What a relief! The help desk was super quick in responding to my cry for help when the screen flashed "leave page" or "stay on page" when I hit record button in the timed essay. I stared at the screen, perplexed, fearful, confidence dwindling...what do I do, what do I do? Ah, that is right...just breathe and pause a a nano second...help desk responded we got your essay, those screens pop up when time is up. Off to yoga.

Can we talk about the specifics of the phase 2 test after midnight today? I'm pretty sure that all sections of the testing process are covered by the confidentiality agreement. That would mean you cannot discuss any specifics with anyone ever.
