I recently received emails saying that I had been referred for an eeoc position and another position I applied for in September. This is my first time applying for federal jobs, and I am wondering if the likelihood of being called for an interview is good, or if so many applicants are referred to the next step that it is unlikely I will get an interview? Are people usually contacted within a few weeks if they are going to get an interview? Also, now that the people from the last cert will be starting class soon, any idea when the next cert will be? Another cert in 2017, or no? Thank you. We’ve kicked the subject of when the next set of SSA certs will come around a bit, without reaching consensus. I would not be surprised at cert emails in late October or early November. If that happens, the next class of ALJs would likely start late January at the earliest, and perhaps as late as March.

I have been referred to a few things under this new system. If you look further especially under the additional information tab you will be routed to the agency page. There you will find additional details about your referral and next steps. The info I had on one indicated that I was merely referred based on my self cert of meeting qualifications and no HR person had verified. This makes me think I may be among many to get referral. How long to wait for interview call? Idk. My agency posts interviews and hires within about 6 weeks start to finish. I think with this new system the rejection letters come more quickly?

From what I've gleaned, it just means you meet the minimum qualifications noted in the JOA. They refer your application to whomever is doing the hiring. Then it's up to that Agency to initiate contact, if they wish to. You might never hear anything from the hiring agency. Or, you might get a generic "thanks for applying" email many months later. There are other people on this board who've been engaged in the federal hiring process for years, either as applicants or as people with some hiring authority, who might have more inside info, but I don't know that there's any way of assessing your odds of getting an interview until you actually get an email or a call inviting you to show up in a suit with a basket of kittens.

On average, I apply to about 10 jobs a month. I get referred about 20-30%, most sit at received and I never hear again. Many are referred and I never hear anything. I got referred for an EEOC AJ in Milwaukee recently. It means nothing until you're called for an interview.

For attorney-advisor positions, my old agency would receive enough applications to fill at least two file boxes. www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/hiring-information/excepted-service/putting the two comments together I gather it's just a massive passthrough from OPM (which may or may not do a prescreen?) to the agency. On a number of applications on entering it it says it's sending me to the agency's portal, and Monster's additions go on. I'm assuming that means it's left OPM?

After your probationary period, it will depend on your Supervisor, and I'd have to look at the actual policy. My supervisor is very casual about it as long as you produce. One of my colleagues is only in the office 1 day every 2 weeks.

Has anyone received any updates regarding interviews/hiring for recent EEOC AJ jobs?
I wanted to bump this up.
There have been a number of EEOC AJ (Attorney-Examiner (CR)) postings fairly recently - Dallas, Atlanta, LA, Boston and Raleigh. I may have missed some.
Does anyone have any info on hiring and timelines? I know that we have a few EEOC AJs out there in Board-land.
Thanks!
Wendy
P.S. FYI - There have been a number of EEOC Trial Attorney postings around the country also.

Just wondering if these EEOC AJ positions (Attorney-Examiner (CR)) have been filled yet.
Particularly the ones in Dallas, Boston and Atlanta.

I cant speak to the Dallas or Boston listing, but I received notice that the Raleigh NC position had been filled, but I have not received a similar notice regarding the Atlanta position. So if the EEOC does things consistently, the answer is no as of yet regarding the Atlanta position.

Atlanta hasn't been filled yet. But they have had interviews (from what I've been told). I too heard that North Carolina was filled recently.

I received an interview for the Baltimore location. Has anyone else received an interview there or anywhere else?

I received an interview for the Baltimore location. Has anyone else received an interview there or anywhere else? Congrats! While I don't know anything about the questions you'll be asked in the interview, I recommend that you learn as much as possible about the EEOC federal sector hearings process.

I also interviewed for an EEOC AJ job from this last wave of postings. My references were called yesterday, so I’m wondering if that’s good news?

New York. I see you interviewed for another? Did they also ask you for references?
