Noted but one Justice not ruling on the merits. This SCOTUS is chomping at the bits to take away voting rights, uphold the hyper partisan gerrymanding in the near future, abolish choice, and take away our judicial independence.

I know it's difficult, but let's not get too political. For every opinion on an issue, there will be an opinion on the other side, and soon we have a war going on. I don't need a war; I have a life outside this board.
No one is going to be punished for expressing an opinion, but punishment will follow for failure to do as I direct. So far I haven't issued a directive, but merely made a suggestion.
For those of you who wonder where I stand, I am a moderate. Sort of a liberal Republican and a conservative Democrat.
A number of years ago, there was a quiz in one of the national news magazines. I took the quiz and ended up right in the middle. The results from a number of national leaders were published. I think there were 20 questions. I compared my answers with General Powell's, and our answers were identical on all of the questions. Many believe General Powell is a conservative, but he isn't all that conservative. He is a moderate.
So now you know. Pixie

So there you have it. Those who have been trying to solve the great mystery of who Pixie actually is, you now have your answer.
Colin Powell.

Colin Powell? Idk. Pixie just threatened to issue a “directive” sounds more like a HOCALJ than a general.

A directive is a more diplomatic term than an order.
On this board we all know how to get along, and things run smoothly 99% of the time. I post as a member the vast majority of the time. Only about 1% of my posts are as a moderator. I prefer being a member and dislike having to be a moderator.
No, I'm not General Powell, but I have a lot of respect for him. He is a calm steading influence that I admire. Although he didn't go to the finest undergraduate school in the country, he has done well for himself.

At the time he went there, CCNY was greatly respected.

But, definitely not as "respected" as that other school in New York that Army officers sometime attend.

It appears the President intends to mandate all government employees be vaccinated, with no opt out option for those to be regularly tested. Putting aside Constitutional issues (which would require more details, such as what of those who object on religious grounds), I forsee the unions objecting that this is being done outside the collective bargaining process. www.cnn.com/2021/09/09/politics/joe-biden-covid-speech/index.html

I foresee many upcoming retirements. That would strike me as odd. First, I find it hard to believe there are that many unvaccinated federal workers who are also in a position to retire. Two, it would seem to me that if you did fall into such a category you might well be better off simply refusing to get vaccinated and fighting. You might well ultimately prevail. (I should limit my response to say I think it would be odd if there were a large number of retirements caused by the vaccine mandate alone. I would not be surprised if there were a surge in retirements when the returns to the offices start to happen. And yes, I am content with where I chose to apply the plural there).

The SSA survey released last week had an answer to refuse to disclose vaccination status. OBE.

But, definitely not as "respected" as that other school in New York that Army officers sometime attend. I was unaware that graduates of the Merchant Marine Academy could work their education off by taking a commission in the Army. I know it's possible for the other service academy graduates (at least, for 12.5% of them) to do so.
Oh, that other school in New York . . . .
Respectfully, Tom B (never will I knock a ring, although as a youth I was known to nock an arrow or two)

The female version of the ring doesn't knock as loudly as the male version—it is much smaller. But then it doesn't really matter as it is considered bad form for a female to knock her ring. Go Army. Beat Navy!

I remember interviewing with a Navy CDR at the MEPS in Milwaukee in 1985 when I was exploring becoming a JAG. The guy was a Navy Academy grad, the former executive officer on a cruiser (how bad do you have to screw-up to get sent to a MEPS?), and was literally banging his academy ring on the desk in front of me while telling me I probably would not meet the Navy's standards. Must have been my glasses.
I'd heard the expression ring-knocker before, but had never witnessed or experienced it. Since we hadn't discussed anything about my qualifications for becoming a JAG, I started to chuckle at his pretentiousness. He did not think it funny. Suffice it to say I did not try to become a Navy JAG after that.
So even though I'm an Airman - go Army, beat Navy!

I say we should get hazard pay if we have to come into the office during the pandemic. Considering all the poor bastards who have been making minimum wage working at Walmart, CVS, and the Piggly Wiggly and going in since day one of this thing, I'd have a hard time making that argument.
