Still here, working from home, meaning that you can't tell one day rom another. Depressing. Only saving grace about working from home was that I could be here with my pups, but I lost one in June to Addison's Disease and cancer. So helping his sis-fur through her grief and transition.
Many fun trips had to be cancelled due to the pandemic, as well as losing friends and colleagues to this horrible pandemic. But thankful to be alive, and able to get together with friends for the upcoming holidays.

We lost a granddog about a year ago and his doggie sister not to mention all of us have never been the same. She has a sadness in her eyes she never used to have

Happy to have spent the better part of two years holding hearings from home and not driving two hours several days a week. Lost one dog last October and added a new puppy in April. Good to hear from you, Christina!

Still here. Mostly lurking because I have little of value to add to any of the recent threads. Been over two years and they still haven’t realized their mistake. Looking forward to the holidays.
Hope all are well.

Getting ready for winter. Gained a new pup about a year ago, and about to lose one to old age. Am I imagining things, or did dshawn have that horrible avatar—maybe a shark? Pixie

Trying to decide when to put lights up, getting ready for snow. Animals are moving out of the mountains and into town. This year we have kids from Elementary to College and all schools between, and we just finished up fall sports. Pretty proud of how they all did. With thanksgiving around the corner, I am ready for pie, in all its forms.
I have been appreciative over the last eighteen months for the way SSA figured out how to continue its business. My civil calendar has been brutilized with quadruple set civil proceedings with first available dates in the very late 2022 becoming the norm (I am not taking wagers on how many times those will be reset either). My other administrative calendars also got highly compressed with cases that would normally have been tried over the last two years getting slammed into a few months (kudos to them, they are getting the work done, but its running everyone ragged).
There has been a lot of tough words to say (on a number of platforms) about how SSA has been handling things, but at least at OHO, hearings happened, and decisions were issued. For that I am grateful.

Pixie I need to get back in (other than my phone) to add the shark. Sorry to hear about the pup. Have 2 older dogs of my own. The memories and knowing we gave them a great life make it worth it. Good luck with the new pup. Lots of work but well worth it. Happy Holidays.

The pup who is my avatar is now almost 5. I have had many transitions in the years since I joined this board. My life is good these days.

I have been on my wife about getting a dog for the better part of a decade, and we finally added one last year. He's now 14 months-old. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. An amazing little dog. Full of personality, and he just loves people. Adorable, too, of course. Attachments:

Hi everyone.
I retired at the end of July. I traveled in my self-contained 2015 Sprinter camper van for the next three months, seeing my adult children, an old college roommate, and old military friends. I have tickets to go to Germany over Christmas to stay with friends, but I see that, only yesterday, the State Department and the CDC are now recommending no travel to Germany. We shall see what happens. Got my COVID booster! Will be seeing both sons again in December.
I have secured a long distance “thru-hiking” permit to hike the Pacific Crest Trail next year. I’ll be starting in early Spring in Campo, California, and hiking north to the Canadian border. It’s like “Wild” with Reese Witherspoon, only (1) I actually know what I’m doing, but (2) I am neither young nor comely. I’m working hard now to get into better shape before my hike, which, if I’m able to complete it, will be roughly 2,700 miles long. That assumes, of course, that I am not mauled/eaten/killed by mountain lions, bears, rattlesnakes, Bigfoot, or crazed politicians from inside the Beltway, or swept away in a raging creek, or hit by lightning or an avalanche, or succumb to hypothermia or hyperthermia, or break my leg. Not to mention poison oak. And space aliens. I have purchased an ice axe and crampons…which I won’t need if we have another especially dry winter.
The one thing I DON’T have to worry about is ALPO. As they say, you gotta pick your poison.
I hope everyone is well and has a wonderful Thanksgiving. Stay healthy, and savor your family and friends.
Respectfully, Tony

Respectfully, Tony I imagine that is the last we will hear from you. Please let us know just before you leave, and if you are fortunate enough to survive, let us know when you are finished. Pixie

Pixie More power to you, Tony. But I think I would take ALPO times a million to 2600 miles of hiking! That is even worse than returning to the office.

Hangin’ in there. I too, like tripper, am not missing the 2-her commute, but I am getting pretty sick of my basement for 8+ hrs a day. We lost our sweet green check conure (like a large parakeet) after running the oven on self-clean (NOTE: if you run the self clean feature make sure all animals are out of the area!). Getting ready for a Cancun trip soon, and will be getting my vax booster this week. christina thanks for starting this thread. It’s nice to see everyone talking about things other than SSA.

Well first 6 months of pandemic flew by with 6 days plus a week on CARES Act emergency litigation. At that point my daughter, a consultant working from home learned to check in on my hearing schedule or took her calls in the basement. I unfortunately got Covid in that first year (Pre vaccine) but recovered… still have some weird sensory issues w smell and taste.
Finally found time to set up an actual home office in a spare bedroom- that has made telework so much easier. Still trying to find ways to limit/control my day so I’m not sitting for 10 hours straight. But getting better. Found a very pleasant outdoor yoga class that made me close up by 5 - but it’s too cold now so need to find another tool to force me end my day.
Sadly lost a pup a few months ago - 17.6 years old - not bad. Grateful I was here with him due to the pandemic. Trying to help his younger sibling through the loss and trying to stay the course and not get another dog. It’s hard though as dogs really do add to your life. But I’ve been taking of kids and dogs for over 30 years - I’d like to see what’s it like to only have to worry about myself!
Love my current job. Since I’m an empty nester the constant telework means it’s me and the dog .. and while she’s cute she doesn’t talk much. So it can be lonely. I was just getting to point of feeling like I could rejoin a gym and this new variant has hit. It makes me feel like I shouldn’t take the risk. But I feel I need something to get me out of the house and interacting with people - not to mention the benefits of exercise. I I’d love to go rent a VRBO for a month - but keep pulling back cuz prices seem so high!

Respectfully, Tony Gregg Allman (RIP) declared that he had "...two strong legs" in "Ain't Wastin' Time No More". My earnest wish for you as well. Power on Bro. That is the song Gregg wrote in Duane's memory after his brother's death on October 29, 1971. I'm not particularly fond of it as it sounds disjointed to me. Gregg wrote it in December, 1971 on a Steinway at Criteria Studio in Miami while they were working on Eat A Peach. Dickie Betts did the slide work. He's not Duane. They should have brought in Jesse Edwin Davis for the recording, as Duane learned slide listening to him. Another case of the student surpassing the teacher. Jesse Edwin was still available as he lived until 1988. His was another loss. Even though it has been 50 years, I still frequently think of Duane. Grieve his loss would be more accurate. Probably not every day, but 5 or 6 days a week. Time moves on. Pixie
