I haven't received the email. I have a low score - in the high 50s, and a wide open GAL.

One thing to keep in mind, unfortunately, is how many of the present "openings" will be filled by transfers and will be taken out of play for new hires. And, unless the city transferring FROM is also on the list, that opening doesn't get filled by this cert.

And, unless the city transferring FROM is also on the list, that opening doesn't get filled by this cert. So, for those of us with a limited GAL that does not include cities on the current list, there is a tiny amount of hope for a future "supplemental" cert to backfill any openings left by transfers. TINY.

I just got my e-mail that I made the cert. Extremely limited GAL (2 cities) and this is the first cert I've made (first time since I'm on the register that one of my cities is on the cert). Woo hoo!!! ;D

So it looks like we have to fill out all of the forms again. Unlike last summer's certs, there is no exception for people who recently submitted the same information. Is that how everybody else understands it?

.I received email this morning. I know that previously, sample questions that are asked to references by SSA were posted on this site. Can anyone direct me to those again? Thanks so much and good luck to all

Your references are not likely to be contacted again if they were contacted in the last year. I'll get those questions and add them to this post for you.
Here they are:
How long have you known the candidate? What is the type and frequency of your association? Based on your knowledge, is the applicant a respected member of the legal community? Why?
How would you describe his/her expertise and professional qualifications?
What in your opinion are his/her strengths and weaknesses?
What is your understanding of the applicant's typical workload? What percent of the applicant's work schedule would you estimate is spent in the court room?
How would you describe his/her interaction with others?
Does the applicant display adherence to professional standards of conduct, reliability and diligence to discharge their professional responsibility?
SSA is looking for an applicant who is ethical, hardworking and knowledgeable about the law and procedure. In your opinion, does the applicant have this capability?
The position of Administrative Law Judge requires applicant be capable of managing and adjudicating up to 700 cases per year. In your opinion, does applicant have this capability?
Would you recommend this applicant for a position as an Administrative Law Judge? Why/Why not?
Is there any other information which would be helpful to SSA in making a decision on the applicant's qualifications?
NOTE : (from original reporter of these questions): I understand that the people contracted to do reference checks simply record the answers, and probably would not be able to answer your questions, such as what does the "700 cases per year" mean. I've learned that sometimes people respond to this type of question, "If anyone can do that heavy of a caseload, ___ can", or "____ is very diligent, and is sure to get the job done."

I was expecting an email (high score and previous certs, wide open GAL, haven't rejected any offers) but have not yet received one. Anyone else in that boat?

Higher Score. Wide open GAL. No email from Bob G. yet. I didn't even get the one from Nigeria. I was, however, invited to sign up for the HGTV Dream Home giveaway. ht

I have high score, wide GAL and zippo too, but the only two certs I have been on (2011) I received notice on Thursdays...so I wait until this thursday to be disappointed. If someone was pulled for another agency cert, would you be excluded from SSA cert of eligibles?

Starting to fill out the paperwork from "the email". List at least 3 written items that you authored and that were published. Does everyone have this? What if you don't? How detrimental will this be?

I just received my email too. I have a VERY limited GAL: just 2 and only one (Albany) was listed on the form I received. Which really limits me, I know but I applied before I found this discussion board or would have known better. I'll keep my fingers crossed and see what happens. Is there any way to know how many vacancies will be in each of the available offices?
