iapplied: Blocking rooms would have been too logical. I too was looking at the glass as half full, and was optimistic that rooms were blocked for us. However, I was informed by the Hampton receptionist that all rooms are booked for the 7,8, and 9 and there are no room blocks. And the marathon continues.....

Are calls for interviews still being made? Are travel arrangements with the official travel agent still being made? Is the travel agent going to be working through the weekend when calls to schedule an interview are still being made? What dates are left for interviews?

Do you have your interview scheduled yet? What did you decide to do?

I booked at the Hawthorne Suites in Alexandria. They have no shuttle, so you will have to rely on taxis or a rental car. It is about 2 miles from the interview site, but a hotel source stated to give myself about 45 minutes due to traffic in the area. I was able to reserve a room for the per diem rate. The guy at SATO (yeah, finally got my arrangements made with the travel coordinator after many failed attempts by phone) put me in Hawthorne. He told me it was right next to Homewood, which itself is supposed to be only a block from the interview site. Was I misled?

I believe the Hawthorne is about 9 or 10 blocks away from the Homewood. Homewood is right next to the Hampton Inn. Homewood and Hampton are only about a block from HQ. I think the Hawthorne is in the 6200 block and HQ is 5107. There is a Hilton about 10 blocks away also. Check it out and see what the address is of the Hawthorne but i'll bet it is the one at 6200 Leesburg Pike

As I recall that's a fairly steep uphill walk and while a block away from the entrance is a decent bit further from the building. I've got enough problems worrying about sweating through my suit without adding physical exertion to the mix.

Got a call yesterday (Thursday) at 4:30 p.m. Application was faxed in Monday midday. The times offered were 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on the 10th and 11th. I'm not sure what times were available earlier in the week, because I didn't ask about those dates.

I hope they didn't skip me: I faxed my docs in on Friday at 7:15 p.m. and had been trying since 5:45.

Monday, the 31st. (The cert email arrived on the evening of the 24th, but I didn't see it till the 25th, and we were out of town till Saturday evening.) Faxed to the alternate number, after the fax wouldn't go through to the original number.
I'm sure they'll get to everyone, although I have no idea what their system is for the order of calls. Order received? Distance from D.C.? Alphabet? Random? Some combination of those?

I never received a reply from Ms. Lonkert to my voicemail or emails to coordinate my travel arrangements (I only need a hotel room for Monday, June 7th since I am a reasonable driving distance from Falls Church). Reading this thread, I was getting concerned about the availability of hotels in the area, so I figured I would just book one on my own and worry about reimbursement and whatnot later.
This morning (Friday 6/4 @ 7:50am) I was able to get a room at the Hampton Inn for Monday night at the government rate of $169/night. The Homewood was booked.
Good luck everyone!

I'm just doing a one-day in-and-out. Anyone know whether Dulles or National is a better option? And is taxi pretty much the only way to get to and from the airport and FC?

Mapquest says National is closer. I haven't really studied the Metro map yet, but I think there's a stop in "East FC"-- the cab ride would be shorter and cheaper from there.

National is much closer. Unless you rent a car, taxi is your only option from the airport.

Talked with my boss who used to live in Alexandria. She said Nat'l and cab it to FC - not too far. She wasn't sure where the Metro stop was in FC in relation to ODAR HQ. Might be an option for the return trip.
