I was just called by SSA for an interview. Faxed my packet yesterday. That was faster than I expected. Good luck to everyone and get your packet in early so you can choose your date. I was given a wide open range of dates from the 7th through the 18th.

Anyone else receive a call for interview? No but that might be related to the fact that for some unfathomable reason the fax number has been busy the last 2.5 hours and I've not been able to get my stuff in. All you slackers who waited until today get off the fax machine for a few minutes.

My guess is happy Hawaiin got the first call because he has to travel a great distance to DC. If I recall, he got the first call to schedule the WD and SI.

I think MY trip to DC is long, but HH has me beat by a LOT. I think I'll be faxing mine at an odd non-business hour, just to avoid a redial marathon.

Sorry guys, but although I'm a happy hawaiian by blood and birth, I now live on the mainland. I think I got the call early because I faxed my forms the day after we got them. Hope all you guys get the call soon. Maybe we can have a Blue Hawaiian at an establishment if we have the same interview dates.

Gotta appreciate having only 1 fax number to receive all of these. Consistent with the rest of the process, I guess! My machine is still trying...

Abso-frickin-lutely incredible. My machine keeps timing out after getting repeated busy signals. Shaping up to be a long afternoon...

I emailed SSA about the fax situation, and received a second fax number to use: 703-605-8421 (instead of 8451). I used it successfully (as in, I received a fax confirmation of receipt).

I just got off the phone with the travel arrangement person and she indicated that she has been contacted by others regarding their travel arrangement so there are others who got the call to schedule their interview as well.

There is no answer to the fax number we were given. A busy signal would let me know that the machine is working.

Well iplawyer, I followed your lead after MUCH angst at the FAX machine this afternoon using the main number. The alrenate number you provided went throught the very 1st time. ;D However, I'm a bit uneasy so I may still try to FAX to the main number at like 3am.

ladyatlaw and iapplied: I'm happy to help!
I'm so glad that I emailed Ms. Burroughs and explained the problem, because I would have been an emotional wreck by Hour 3 of futile faxing. For the record, she was very responsive -- prompt and (obviously) helpful.
Is it possible that the fax machine was turned off by someone at 5pm, with the reasonable idea that HR would prefer not to receive faxes when no one is there? (Perhaps so that there is no chance that paper could land on the floor and get thrown out accidentally by the janitorial staff?) If so, then this system of expecting everything by Monday seems less than fully thought-out.
In any case, I recommend a follow-up email to the HR folks just to remind them to check that additional fax machine on Tuesday. That's what I did.

Thanks from me, too...when I'm ready to fax, I'm using the other number. And sending that e-mail.

My guess would be the latter. I did do an email to Mr. Gehlken letting him know that I had faxed the docs to the alternate number but that I would also try and fax the docs to the first number we were given.
