Are we allowed or supposed to take any materials into the interview? I had a copy of my list of references in case they asked for them - since the guy you who scheduled my interview said I could bring an updated reference list - but they did not ask so I did not give.

Following my interview, one of the interviewers walked me to the elevator. During the walk thru the mazelike floor, he essentially told me how wrong I was in regard to one of my answers in the interview (I won't discuss the question or answer). He then shook my hand and told me I did a great job. I was then hired on the first cert. A good friend interviewed with the same panel later that day. The same interviewer walked him to the elevator saying nothing. At the elevator door he simply asked if my friend required a cab. My friend was also hired on the first cert. Before me. Tigerlaw reported he left his interview feeling like he bombed it. He was also hired on the first cert. Another friend left the interview and emailed me how he had nailed it. Claimed great feedback and the "good job" from the panelist that walked him to the elevator. Yet, a year later and multiple certs gone by and still no offer. Moral: don't read too much into the "feedback" you get. Most of it is in your head. Funky--thanks for sharing this. It's a valuable perspective, especially for those of us who are prone to mentally replaying our interviews. My interviewers were cordial and offered to help get me a cab and some post-interview cookies, but certainly offered no "good job" or lobed direct feedback. Glad to confirm that may not matter.

OMG, I am so screwed...no one asked me if I needed a cab, walks me to the elevator, etc. I swear I didn't barf on their shoes, but gosh darn it, I didn't think I did that bad!
Quite frankly, I worry about the reference check more than the interview.

Is it just me, or is anybody else having trouble pretending that everything is normal when Gary changed his avatar? It's a tribute to my late cat. I am so sorry to hear of your loss Gary. I can say the love and memories you have for Sam will last a lifetime. You have my condolences.

Your weapons, you will not need them. Maybe this is why I still don't have the job. Its like those people had never seen a Die Hard movie. Never go into a sky scraper without your machine pistol.

I thought about using the team interview style from the movie “Step Brothers,” and take an ALJ to answer all the questions. Then I decided that might be frowned upon.

I know that your posts are all in good fun, but weapons and talk thereof are not topics that are treated very lightly out here in the hearing offices, or at least not mine. We just had an incident in the last couple of weeks with a claimant who appeared very meek and mild until he got the decision denying his claim. When a rep warns you that this person is now packing a gun, it is not good. I don't know about other judges, but my robe isn't bulletproof.
So while I may make comments about weapons with folks I know very well and trust, I would think twice before posting any such remarks on a public board. You never know who is reading it or what ideas your comments may inspire.
I am a scaredy cat, but that caution is what has gotten me through 25+ years of dealing with the public.

I was specifically told the only dates on which interviews were being held were July 29, 30, and 31. I had a conflict and would have loved a later interview date. Perhaps, exceptions were eventually made for some, but not for me.

Perhaps, exceptions were eventually made for some, but not for me. If I remember correctly, that is what I was told as well. However, there has already been confirmation that there is at least one interview this afternoon.

Perhaps, exceptions were eventually made for some, but not for me. They typically only give each person a few days from which to pick. It is also possible that they had already filled the later dates.

Perhaps, exceptions were eventually made for some, but not for me. They typically only give each person a few days from which to pick. It is also possible that they had already filled the later dates. Well, when I selected July 31, he responded by saying that all interview slots on that date were already filled. One slot remained open on the 30th; several on the 29th. That left me with the impression that only three dates were ever in play.

Normally, I'd say that was not a good sign (especially in a skyscraper), but he's STILL Judge Kittylaw, so you just never know ...

I have yet to see any members report that they were interviewed on 4 August. Maybe they only had one day. Maybe the Hiring Committee will meet tomorrow and Friday.
