Thank you so much maxlaw! I did indicate competency in the Spanish language but I would like to be considered for all the cities on both forms. I will follow your advise and do two separate forms.

Congrats to all who made it on to the cert. For those of us who didn't get an e-mail, is it time to stop checking? Looks like folks have stopped posting that they've recieved e-mail notices. Anyone else out there also just wondering when to stop checking?

For family reasons, I limited my GAL to the Wash DC metro area (Baltimore, MD, Rockville, MD, Arlington, VA, and Falls Church VA). My score is 82 plus, with veteran's preference points, plus previous insider SSA experience. Am I doomed in this ordeal? Should I consider if I have transferable skills for other work? I have a sense of humor - Transferability of skills for other work is part of step 5 in SSA's sequential evaluation process to determine if a claimant is disabled. I am sad about limiting the GAL, however, when I look into my son's eyes, all is good. I want to thank everyone for the shared insights and information, particularly, the senior and experienced posters. Congratulations to those with interviews.

JusticeDude, you do have transferable job skills, unfortunately, you have the same transferable job skills that every paralegal has with SSA.. That being said, only the Shadow knows the inner workings of SSA, or as I am sure you also know it as Bizzarro World, as we are want to call it.. Keep your chin and numbers up and maybe someday you will grow up to become a Judge.. and then again, maybe not??

Shanti, hope springs eternal, but I have decided eternal has come and gone...so I am about to give up on checking.

For family reasons, I limited my GAL to the Wash DC metro area (Baltimore, MD, Rockville, MD, Arlington, VA, and Falls Church VA). ... Am I doomed in this ordeal? I'm just reading tealeaves like most others around here, but my current best guess is that you are out-of-luck solely because the few offices you were able to identify are not hiring this time around. I've said it before and I'll say it again, but what a crazy proces this is. As happy as I am to get on the cert, I can't imagine how much it will stink if I interview and don't get an offer. You try to distance yourself, but the further along you get, the more invested you become. In some respects it was more painless to be rejected from the get-go as I was last time around!

Shanti, I scored a 58.58, and the cut-off seems to be 59, so I'm about ready to give up. However, I think that for everyone who scored 59 and above, and had at least one city on the list that has been posted, if you haven't gotten your email yet, it's still coming. Good luck.

I just received another notification with the exact same forms but with just two cities this time in Puerto Rico as opposed to the numerous cities in the U.S. in the first notification I received. Does anyone know if they send separate notices for Puerto Rico. Does this mean I have two fill out the two separate forms and fax two separate forms? If anyone has experience with this, please let me know. Thanks a lot! Hi Imiram1372. Would you kindly share the Puerto Rico locations listed in your follow-up notification? I listed 3 PR locations in my GAL and I am [excitedly] curious about the possibility of more SSA/ODAR cities hiring from my GAL. Muchas Gracias!

Hola ladylaw! The Puerto Rico locations listed on my GAL were Mayaguez, PR and San Juan, PR. Did you also get two separate notifications from SSA?

Justice Dude
I have the same GAL as you do. On the 2007 test I was in the middle of the pack (mid-60s). On one of the certs they had DC listed and I got an interview. I did not get the offer. I retook the exam this year and did considerably better (above 85). Because of the GAL I did not get an e-mail, nor did I expect one. My hope is that other agencies will hire off the register. Your score (an 82) should get you close on some of those. Don't give up hope but be realistic, it is a long shot.

I have not [yet] received a separate PR notification [but I am hopeful]. Since I did not receive the initial notification until almost 5pm sharp yesterday, then I will be patient on this too. Besides, there is everything to gain and nothing to lose...especially thanks to your PR post! Who knew?!?! ;D I listed these 3 PR cities: Ponce, Mayaguez & San Juan. I will post a response if/when I receive a PR notification.

Very tough call between having a large GAL to increase chances of getting on the cert and being realistic about the impact a major move would have on your family. SO had most of yours and a few extras and got lucky some of those have matches. Washington is always hiring-who knew just not ALJs. With such an impressive score though perhaps one of the agencies will have vacancies. Good luck to you.

What happened to the two posters who were so confident a 59 score and having a city on the list guaranteed you would be on the cert? I read those two posts this morning and I had false hope that I would be on the cert given that my score was a 59.29 and I had four of the cities on the list. No email and it appears there will be no more forthcoming. Did these two posters have any reliable info or were they just speculating?

Justice Dude and Chinook- I have the same GAL and limited it for the same family reasons. I have decided that its just not happening this time and am trying to let go. Good luck to both of you that other agencies may be hiring.

I am one of the posters who incorrectly stated that if you had a 59 and any one city, you would make it. I should have said 59.something. At the time, people with high scores and many cities were stressing for no reason. On the poll it said the lowest score was 59. I have no inside info and apologize if you saw my statement as a guarantee.

allrise & getready, thanks for the quick responses and explanations. Greatly appreciated. Can't believe I am not going to get an interview because of a percentage point but I guess there has to be a cutoff somewhere. Given the fact that no one has posted in the last five hours that they received an email, I have to assume all the emails have gone out.
I didn't join this forum earlier because I was paranoid that I would be discovered and it would hurt my chances. So, at this time, I just wanted to shout out a big thank you to all the posters who have been so helpful. I have been reading this daily since last November.
Even Patriots Fan, though I am among those who were not sorry to see him quit. (lol)

I wasn't thinking in terms of the difference coming down to decimal points, but should have. We all meant well-- allrise is correct that people with higher scores and lots of cities were stressing out a lot then.
