Shanti, I scored a 58.58, and the cut-off seems to be 59, so I'm about ready to give up. However, I think that for everyone who scored 59 and above, and had at least one city on the list that has been posted, if you haven't gotten your email yet, it's still coming. Good luck. I gave up, but my wife wouldn't quite let me. Bless her heart as my dear departed Grandmother used to say. I started to believe again and believed some more. And then I got this call... Hang in there tricia! This process rewards the keen blue flame of desire.

I hope you're right, PA. My 'keen blue flame of desire' is so bright I'm sitting under a rainbow! :-)

I'll probably feel like applying again if they throw out this register or if the applications open up after my year is up.

Congratulations, PA! How wonderful for you (and all who made the cert)!!!! I'm in the same boat as Tricia, and will probably apply again when I can. It's been rewarding to be a member of this support group, no matter what my current situation is--I wouldn't trade this Board for anything!

Tricia, You've personified the traits of perseverance and optimism, and inspired a lot of people on this board. You've also encouraged others who have been discouraged by the process, including me. You'll feel better after the initial disappointment wears off. Keep your chin up.

Actually my Mom bought me my Robe last year (she insisted), right before I got sworn in--but it took ages for it to get here. We sorta have to wear it here. Now I'm never late to Court. But I don't feel quite comfortable posting this in light of all the angst out there. I just want folks who have been through so, so much, like zero and tricia and arlene25 and all you guys and gals who are hangin' in there and givin' it a go, well, you know...

Hi Marcia. I won't be in California. I take it that you are going there for an SSA interview. Good luck!

Oh, right, Marcia, you don't get a new interview unless it's a full moon that falls on the fifth Thursday of any month, right? I can't keep some of these rules straight. Tricia

So, Lawdog and Marcia, let me make sure I understand this. You have been on the SSA cert the last few times. You got an SSA interview at some point but were not hired. You haven't re-applied in an effort to increase your score. So you're sitting with, obviously some score above 59.5 or whatever, the cut-off this time. I'm assuming that since you seem to know that you are definitely on their current certificate. So, under these circumstances, does SSA send you an email saying you are on their certificate again this time around, but you don't need to interview? If they don't, how do you know that you're on their certificate? How do you know you haven't been three-striked? This is like that game that Harry Potter and his friends play with the golden golf ball and the flying brooms.

tricia...
I received a "NOTIFICATION TO ALJ CANDIDATE" with about a 7 day response time (due date May 31, 2010)...update references...reaffirm the GAL cities...update contact information. Responses were to be faxed to Bob Gehlken. Those who have previously interviewed with SSA do not interview again.
No, I did not re-apply. I have not appealed my score (which has thus far been high enough to land me on each certificate as far as I know). I have not requested my file from OPM and as of now I don't intend to request my file...
The three strike stuff...beats me. I don't know if I am or if I am not. If someone wants to show me a list of three strikers with my name on it then I'll know. I've been around this agency for almost 2 decades and I've seen a bunch of goofy stuff happen (Marcia lingo). The only thing I have control over is responding to the certificate...and of course I always fax the stuff back to Bob...and months later after the new judges are cozy in their offices, I receive the "sorry you were not selected" letter. It has all been pretty straight forward as far as the paper trail is concerned.
So, in my case I have received the NOTIFICATION TO ALJ CANDIDATE via e-mail...I have not limited myself geographically...and I'll hang around until I am either selected or until October 2010 when the scores and register expire. Will I ever apply again??? Who knows. Sort of depends on whether I have the time and/or the interest in the ALJ position and the application process. I have a very busy life...great but busy!!
At this point, I've spent a fair amount of $$ traveling to DC (the WD and the SI)...and reconnected with a college friend in the process...so the out of pocket $$ has been worth it even if I have not received an ALJ position.
If you want to know more, send me a private message!
Peace,
Marcia

In case anyone wants to know if they have been three-striked, I believe Patriots Fan is still willing to communicate with people. His email is: Judgepatriotsfan@gmail.com. I really appreciated the information he shared with me. He deleted his posts, so I wanted to make sure his email was still available.

For all of those wondering if you are a 3-striker...
Ditto to Counsel's comments regarding the information provided by PF...enlightening information in the SSA/ODAR world of smoke and mirrors!!!! Maybe I should change my name: Ima Threestriker...if the high heel fits...wear it!!!!
My favorite contemporary 20th century composer, Samuel Barber, wrote a lovely piece...Adagio for Strings Op. 11...For you movie buffs, Oliver Stone selected the adagio in one of the final scenes in Platoon...haunting application for a beautiful musical composition...the "good" guy runs out of the jungle with the VC on is tail...and the "bad" guy left him to be killed...a bit of movie trivia...Willem DaFoe (the Good Guy) was outfitted in fake blood packets that were supposed to go off when the character was "shot" in the back...but they didn't...but they didn't re-shoot the scene because it was so perfect othewise...
For those of you feeling like the "good" guy who just took the bullet...It is only a movie!!!
Count your blessings, chill out, and embrace peace...a peace that surpasses understanding!!!
Stayin' cool and coated in sunscreen,

MB, Not to belabor a point, but were you actually able to determine from PF's info that you are a 3-striker? I am baffled by the whole process. Thanks for your posts!
